I live in Barbados, how do you meet and make friends here? |
I always thought Barbados a friendly place, till I moved here, now I find it hard to make friends. Being female I dont want to turn up at bars by myself (people get the wrong idea). So how do I meet other ladies and men for friendships (non sexual). I dont work at present, so I dont have work colleagues and family are very religious - so are more interested in getting me into church. |

Join some kind of college and take a course in something that interest you. That way you can meet all kinds of people and take part in college activities, sports, clubs and events.
And when you do make friends and go clubbing, go to the boat yard. Top night! |

Yeah like the other dude said. Join some sort of club or adult learning centre. That way you'll make friends with people who have similar interests to you |

Barbados is a very friendly place, you have just been in the wrong places. Try in the country there are lots of people there you can be friends with. if not talk to me (wickedvicsta@hotmail.com) |

If you find new person in your homeland or somewhere, you will indrouce yourself and ask her or him to join with you. Then you will talk to the new friend and walk with her/him into park, mall,or anywhere you wan to go. |

I don't see anything wrong with going to bars...but I just wouldn't make it a daily habit. I would concentrate more on finding a job vs finding friends. Cropover is coming...you don't have any friends from home that would want to visit you? Then at least you wouldn't be alone & could possibly meet more people. |

Give your self a purpose and while working from that purpose you will find friends and friends will find you. I made several trips there , love it and would love to be in your position.
Email me, I can give you something important to do.
I'll have you do some research on family history. |

Actually, depending on the church, it might not be a bad place to meet people but sometimes it may be more stressful than it's worth
I'd suggest doing a search at groups.yahoo.com with keyword "barbadian" and see if you can find some people that you can connect with that aren't interested in a girlfriend. As always, be careful.
Identify activities that you like - surfing/ football/ swimming/ community service - and attend some events... you might meet people there that you like. Join a club. Go to Crop Over Events. Go on cruises (Harbour Master). Go rallying. Lots of stuff but maybe you don't know where to look.
As long as you're not a serial killer or something ( :P ), I'd love to make a new friend - I'm currently in the US but I'm moving back home to Barbados in July.
Let me know if you're interested in meeting up and I'm *definitely* interested in partying. :D |
