I need to find a quiet Caribbean beach/island for a holiday I'm planning with my sister, with no Americans! |
Any ideas? Of course we are looking for a beautiful beach with clear water, a VERY small resort, and something that doesn't cost 300 quid per night. Anyone know of any places to go that are "off the beaten path" or any "diamond in the rough" sort of spots? Cheers! |

The places to head for are the French Antilles, Martinique and Guadeloupe, which the Americans avoid because of the language. If you want to be off the beaten track, try the smaller island of La Marie Galante. http://www.lagalette.net/
Martinique and Guadeloupe both have gites -- inexpensive country cottages -- available. http://www.martinique.org/services/accomodations.htm

If you don't want too many Americans then it will have to be Cuba for you I'm thinking. |

Well - if no Americans is the criteria it has to be Cuba. Try the Cayo's - Cayo Guillermo is an island off the coast of Cuba very quiet, very relaxing. If you do not want to pay too much look at Club Caribe Cojimar. You will find on Thomas Cook, Airtours , Direct Holidays its a basic accommodation in a beautiful place - all inclusive too and 24 hour bar. |

Tobago. Hands down! My family travelled there from Ireland 2 years ago for two weeks and there were no Americans to be seen. Quite a few Irish, English and Dutch surprisingly! It's a very laidback Island. We stayed in the Grafton Beach Resort wich was all inclusive and had a great beach with free water sports and scuba diving available. The waves were brilliant for body boarding! |
