With only a week you are best staying either at Breezes Jimacoa as Barb s suggested or a resort such as Brisas del Caribe, an attractive resort; on a wonderful stretch of Playa Varadero a magnificent beach about an hour from Havana. If you go somewhere else and have to fly to Havana you are just going to lose too much time. Your destination rep will be offering day trips and overnight trips to Havana so be sure to take advantage The links below will fill you in on most everything. Enjoy your visit. |

We stayed at Breezes Jibacoa. An adults only resort situated halfway bewtween Varadero & Havana.(About an hour to either)
The hotel had a beautiful beach, with great snorkeling. |

Try one of the hotels in Santa Maria at the Playas del Este. Thats only 20 minutes from Havana. The Playas del Este (beaches of the east) are the beaches where the people from Havana are going to. Santa Maria is the bestone.

Veradero (Beach) is not far from Havana and is beautiful there. The links below will give you sites to see in Veradero and Havana and beautiful beaches to enjoy.
You may enjoy the Paradisus Veradero Resort or Tryp PenĂnsula Veradero.
However, another beautiful beach area is Cayo Coco. Gorgeous area. That is one of my favourite places. It's not a short drive to Havana but you can take an hour flight and spend it as a day trip and come back to the resort or stay overnight there via the resort tours. Tryp Cayo Coco is a beautiful resort and highly recommend it. |

I'm not sure about where to go in Cuba, but if you don't want to deal with drunk, rowdy university and college students from Canada, I'd avoid going in February. Unless that is your thing, in which case go! It's fun!
Oh, and March sees a lot of families taking the kiddies on March Break to the Caribbean, so if you don't want ankle biters messing-up your holiday plans, avoid the second and third weeks of March, too. |
