I would def. go to college and learn the language, its always a plus, another option is buying spanish for dummies, it really helps. I feel if uou love the island and want to make a new living then go for it, apply to hotels, resorts, colleges, bar tending ...ect. I wish I can leave my life in nj/nyc and move there. good luck best wishes.

I live in Puerto Rico.
As an English teacher, you're gonna get a lot of offers. But please keep in mind that the economy is in ruins right now and nothing is certain, because elections will take place in November and there is a 50-50 percent chance that parties might change. If they don't, the economy will continue in ruins. If they do, the process of change will be a rocky road.
Honestly, I've lived here since I was 9 (I'm 17 now), and I already call myself part puertorrican. I was born in Massachusetts, but a year later, I moved to Dominican Republic, where my entire family is.
So I've noticed what change is... Puertorricans are the sweetest people and the weather (although quite hot sometimes) is generally comfortable. Nevertheless, it's not all peaches and cream like they portray it in the brochures. Few beaches look as clean as those and the majority of the people live in poverty with truly limited chances of education.
On the plus side, everyone knows each other and can get rides anywhere because it is so small. Parties are literally EVERY DAY.
Do whatever your heart tells you, but if you want to come live here, I recommend you wait a while, at lease until the governor is chosen.
Hope I helped!

Drive a cab.
Just curious, why do you want to move there if you don't have a job waiting for you and don't speak the language?

Like others said before English Teacher or as a Business Administrative Job for an American Company in PR. Its always good better both languages and be bilingual. Im sure you will have more opportunities if you know two languages and not just one.
