I want to take my wife to the Caribbean for her 50th in October. Which island has the best all-incl. VALUE ?

While it doesn't have to be, I was thinking all-inclusive would be the most relaxing. Are there any islands in particular that historically are less expensive but still have nice resorts ? With a teenager in college we certainly have some expenses but I'm not going to "cheap out" either. I just want something memorable that won't break the bank. We have some flexibilty but looking at the 3rd week of October (close to her birthday) and to try and avoid hurricanes. Any suggestions are much appreciated !

Awww, your a good guy. Look into Sandals Negril in Jamaica. We are about your age and we love it there. It's a little smaller and quieter than some of the others. If you like scuba diving it's a great place to do that. Food, drink, water sports, beach, staff are all great. If you haven't already, go to tripadvisor.com for comments from other guests about this or any other resorts that you might be interested in. It should help you find a place that's "just right" for the both of you. Welcome to the "half-century club"!

Why don't you call a travel professional? They don't charge for their services and you can get great information as well as prices at no additional cost to you. There are even travel agents that specialize in the Caribbean and are destination specialists. Look for one that is a Destination Specialist (DS) for the Caribbean. They have studied the Caribbean, have traveled there and they would be a great resource for information and to help you plan your trip.

Best wishes

Grenada is the best caribbean island...It is the lsle of Spice where everything is nice, because it has the most spices in the world. It is small so you can learn it quickly. It has the best networks of roads...so you can get around the island easily and you can get to any place you like. Then again it has a low crime rate...and the weather is always beautiful..plus it has beautiful beaches...(bathway& Levera beach..St.Patrick's,Grand Anse St.George)
St.George is the capital and it is very beautiful...enjoy walking on the carenage. We have our own organic chocolate factory..it is rated one of the best chocolates worldwide. You can find the chocolate factory in Hermitage,St.Patrick's opposite the Prime Minister's House. There are many estates one of the popular ones is the Belmont Estate found in Hermitage St.Patrick's (it is really beautiful) Plus it has a lot of eco tourism..Grand Etang St.Andrew's ...Grand Etang is a resrved forest..filled with many animals and plants(the leptotila Welsi...is only found in Grenada) and consists of a crater lake(grand Etang Lake).the people are friendly and amiable...the food is delicious, the rentals are cheap, the hotels are unbeilevable.... and so much more....I think you need to visit to see it's beauty

October is still hurricane season, so that's always a possibility.

Dominican Republic has lots of AIs, many with reasonable rates.

You might consider a cruise, also. Prices are comparable. Carnival has good rates, but Princess is only a little more and is said to have better quality.

I've stayed at the Sans Souci in Ocho Rios Jamaica now part of the Couples group of resorts http://www.couples.com/14cs/index.html it is absolutely stunning - lush tropical landscaping and private beach coves. It will make you both feel very very special - sounds like you deserve it!

Puerto Plata (north coast) Dominican Republic.
Not to expensive and had only 3 hurricanes in 115 years.
All the resorts offer a "all inclusive" package and there is a lot to discover and town (Puerto plata) is 10 min by public bus.

A travel agent who know the Caribbean would be the best person to ask.

The time of year you are traveling is not high season so that is good.

Make sure the all-inclusive hotel is in a lovely location...e.g you don't want one near the airport because of the traffic and noise, just because it may be a special rate.
