Negril, Ocho Rios and Montego BAy are the better tourist areas. Depending on what you want to do during your vacation.... Ocho Rios has most of the watersports attractions. Negril is a party all year round and nice long beach. Montego Bay = lots of shopping, big hotels, business resorts etc. |

If you are looking for beautiful and peaceful go to port antonio in portland. It is a hidden gem not alot of people know about. It is very laid back though.
If you want nightlife and the all inclusive vibe then try ocho rios, montego bay, or negril.
But let me repeat PORT ANTONIO IS BEAUTIFUL. |

my hubby and i went to montego bay for the first time in the end of january. we loved it. we stayed at a sandals resort (all inclusive) and would do it again if we could save up the money quick enough. people at resort were very friendly and it wasn't too crowded at all and still in the 80s for the weather. |

I would say Negril 100%!!! My family and I went to Beaches Sandy Bay for a week in mid March. We took an 11 year old girl and a 14 year old boy. We have been there before at the same hotel for 4 days, and both trips were so much fun!! My best friend and her husband went to Ocho Rios (spelling) and they said they did not like it very much, mainly becuase there were armgaurds with guns at almost every corner becuase of the crime rates there at the major island port.
Anyway, at Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril, you are about 30-45 minutes from a great canopy tour, an awesome 4 wheeler tour for 16 years and above, and a really fun horse ride. At the hotel, there are lots of rental items, such as snorkel equipment, small sail boats, and small paddle boats. You can walk about 1 mile to a much bigger hotel with a great water park, and awesome resturants and shows at night. There are taxis and buses going to the bigger hotel and back. You can snorkel any day, and snorkeling is so much fun. The Beaches Sandy Bay Hotel is definately meant for families. So if you are a couple looking for a hotel, there are a couple of hotels for couples only, such as Sandals. Also, Negril is a great scenic place to visit, becuase it has crystal clear waters, the prettiest sunsets becuase it is at the west end of the island, and it is not too crowded like Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. (spelling)
Anyway, I hope you have a GREAT time in JAMAICA!!!!! |

come during the xmas season. which we also call tourist season. More travels deals, cheaper flights, cheaper rooms, more activities etc. The city you will like depends on you, I would suggest Negril as a starters. |

'The best' is relative to what your preferences are.
There are historical sites, waterfalls, watersports, nature tours etc, so it all depends on you.
You sound like you are coming to Party. There great party spots all around the island but if you squeeze me hard enough I will say Negril.
Here are some other interesting places to visit as well.

Negril 100%
Hurricane season in Jamaica runs from June to October. We stayed 10 days in October and had no problems at all. My parents went in May and said it was gorgeous!
I've been to Jamaica 4x - Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay, Kingston, and Negril. Negril is by far the best for the following reasons:
* Sunsets are drop dead gorgeous since its located at the west end of the island
* Water is crystal clear and stunning
* The whole vibe of Negril is mega laid back and super cool - funky, hippyish, etc.
* Awesome bars and younger crowd - not too crowded like Ocho Rios or Montego Bay

I am not sure which area is the best, but if you decide on a place, you may want to go to this website for some great places to stay. You rent directly from an owner instead of staying in an expensive hotel. The owners would be able to tell you more about their area.

I went to Montego Bay in April and it was absolutely gorgeous! My parents went just a few weeks later to the same resort in May and they had rain the whole week they were there! I think that the weather is just a hit and miss just like everywhere else! I have been to Montego Bay and to Ocho Rios and I love them the both! They are both gorgeous! If I went back again I would probably go to Montego Bay again only because the resort that I stayed at was 10 minutes from the airport and it was fantastic, where when I went to Ocho you still land in Montego Bay but it was 1hr commute to the resort! They are both beautiful no matter where you choose to stay though!
Be sure to visit Dunns River Falls!!! --- Bring your own water shoes though or you have to rent theirs in order to climb the falls!!! |

Jamaica is a beautiful country. Negril is a beautiful place, the sunset as someone else said is breathtaking, with 7 miles of beach that has hotels, bars and restaurants along it. very laid back and relaxing. Alot of little bouquet hotels at various prices to all inclusive hotels.
Portland is the other end of the island also very beautiful with The Blue Lagoon which said to be bottomless-beautiful. Portland is more for nature lovers , a smaller town less commercial and unknown to tourist. Nice beaches but more for surfers. |
