Get yourself to Paya Del Carmen in Mexico. Totally safe, plenty to do, and hot all year round. But between May to October is the hurricane season. |

Try Jamaica. There is many more attraction there compare to Barbados. Montego Bay , Negril, Ocho Rios among others are great places you would wanna revisit. For a total package; nightlife, cheap shopping, beaches, sport, nature itself your best bet is Jamaica |

Barbados. You don't have a lot of people haggling you on the beach (and they aren't privatised as in some other places). You have places to rent an apartment, guesthouse, villa, or hotel for any budget (from $25/night guesthouse rooms, $50/night apts with kitchen, $125/night hotel, $200/night all-inclusive, to the unimagineable if you are wealthy). The island is small enough that you don't have to rent a car, but you can if you don't wish to use public transportation. If you stay on the south coast, you are usually within walking distance to supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, and banks. You are also usually right by the beach as well.
Crime is relatively low compared to some of the larger islands. The dollar exchange is 2 Barbados Dollars to 1 USD. So calculating anything in Barbados is easy without a calculator. Getting to town is very easy, and there are always taxis available if you choose to avoid the public buses and renting a car. There is always a nightlife in addition to wonderful restaurants, beach, golf, and tours. There are various events held in the island throughout the year (Jazz Festival, Oistins Fish Festival, Barbados Run Marathon, Cropover, etc). You can visit the local rum distilleries (Mount Gay & Malibu), as well as their local beer, Banks.
Barbados is a popular destination among Canadians and Europeans and you will find a lot of repeat visitors. I find every time I visit, I see many of the same faces who visit for a month or two (lucky UK people with so much holiday time).
As a single female, I always feel safe in Barbados, to include walking around at night alone. I've visited during most months of the year and the weather has always been nice (they are located where hurricanes typically don't cause any real damage). I hope you make it there sometime, even if not on your next holiday. |

Try Playa del Carmen, Mexican Caribbean, for beauty, value, and comfort. Our son and daughter-in-law just went there for their honeymoon and loved everything about it - especially the friendly people. He's travelled to St. Maarten, Grand Bahama, and St. Croix which are some great places to measure against. |
