Well obviously they are usually called Dominicans or Dominicanos, but actually that girl was right sometimes they call themselves 'Platanos'.. but not usually
But Most of the time they call themselves "Quisqueyanos" from the Taino word 'quisqueya' which referred to the name of the island.
