YES. Jamaicans WILL harm you. Especially these days.

We are so pissed off with so many things in our society that the ONE THING we don't need to see is two homosexuals parading acts that they KNOW we object to. It would be the equivalent of:

1. Burning (your country)'s flag.
2. Saying god damn (your country).

The majority of Jamaicans feel deeply about the issue of homosexuality and how images of your 'lifestyle' may or may not affect our youth.

I read the story about "Stacy Chin" in the oprah article posted by another answerer. I would like to say that 99% of all Jamaicans would not approve of a person being raped FOR ANY REASON. That's just not ok. That is not combat. That is not rebellion against the promotion of homosexuality. Rape is just rape...cruelty that CANNOT be justified. The police force would deal with it as such.

I have to agree wid the majority of the people here, inna Jamaica we don't tolerate homosexuality. Jamaica although plaugued by other issues happens to have the most churches per sq. capita, which makes the place quite spiritual and religious. I would not advise you going there being an openly gay couple. You would be putting yourself and your partner at serious risk. People have been seriously beaten and even MURDERED in Jamaica for being gay. Perhaps you should pick another island. As an FYI: Thats why Rosie O'Donald gay cruise does not go there.

If you are gay and you are going to publicly show it, I advise you not to do it unless you want to be tied up on a light pole and get a beat down of a lifetime.

And another thing, Jamaica is a christian country so please do not bring your lifestyle there.

Yes Jamaicans are like that I live in Jamaica and I watched the news and saw pastors chasing out Gays. So they will kill you if they ever catch or beat and torment. Good Luck.

sorry Jim i aint bashing u for being gay but i mean Jamaica is a Christian based society who are STRONG in their beliefs jamaica has the most churches per sq mile. THEY HATE GAYS its like a sin so no u cant kiss or any form of PDA with u man in JAmaica. keep that behind closed doors and u will have a great experience. hope u enjoy ur stay. Its not illegal to kiss another man but buggery (fu*king batty) is against the law though. (people arnt normally prosecuted though bcuz quite frankly i doubt anyone Wants to catch u guys in that act) eeewww

In Jamaica gay is not okay but there are gays in Jamaica. In Jamaica going down on someone is not okay but alot of people do it. These are the Jamaican beliefs so it's unacceptable to be out in public doing that. There are places to do it but you got to find out where. You can't just walk around rubbing up on your boyfriend. They'll call ya'll " BATTY BWOYS ! " Just know when and where to do it and you'll be fine especially if your staying in a resort or a family house. Do those things in private.

Homosexual acts are against the Jamaican law. If you publically display your affection, outisde of a resort - or even in the resort for that matter, you are at risk. I do not think we harm tourists here for homosexual acts but people can be violent. Hold the love for when you are in private. I am sure you and he can enjoy Jamaica without having to touch or do anything not conventional in public.

Okay it is against the Jamaican Law to perform homosexual acts in Jamaica. Us Jamaican are strong believers in the most high and it is wrong so yes you can get seriously hurt for displaying that in public. If you cannot refrain from displaying you affection in public while in Jamaica, I would suggest that you go to another country or you might get seriously hurt. Its nothing against touist or foriegners even Jamaicans that are gay get hurt when they show it in public. Be careful if you still decide to go.

Jamaican people really don't like or support gays. It may be in your best interest to keep any outright homosexual activity within the confines of your hotel. If you do that then it should be ok. Good Luck!

Yes actually if you walk around kingston you can get extremely hurt. but if you are just at a resort then you are ok. They aren't accustomed to the life This is a great story about a lesbian in Jamaica. Have a nice trip

montego bay and negril are more accepting of gay lifestyle however its best if you kiss and cuddle around your resort rather than on the street.

Jamaicans are intollerant towards Gay people.. you can actually get killed for being gay in Jamaica . It is known for many hate crimes towards gays . I would not venture to Jamaica if I were you . Barbados , Puerto Rico is more tolerant to Gays.

i would choose another caribbean island like dominican republic. i love jamaica, but they are seriously prejudice against gays. mexico is also wonderful for gay couples. we just got back from playa del carmen (blue bay esmeralda) and there were many gay couples and groups there. you will also enjoy the wonderful food this resort has. not one bad meal. very spalike atmosphere. if you do like this hotel, upgrade to the swim up hotelroom.
