If you are under 18, and from Canada, do you need a passport to go to Dominican?

I have heard that you only need a birth certificate and a student card.

The official word is as follows

National CANADA (CA)
Destination DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (DO)

Passport required.

Also accepted: original Birth Certificate or Birth Registration
Papers or military hospital issued Birth Certificate, provided:
- acommpanied by official photo ID (i.e driver's license); and
- travelling for touristic purposes.
However, it is strongly recommended to hold passport.

Note: children under 18 years of age are not required to hold
photo ID.

Your age has nothing to do with it. Yes you can travel with just your birth certificate. You can use the site below...enter your nationality and destination, then click for the info. you will see that it says a passport is required OR, you may use your birth certificate. The rules are DIFFERENT for Canadians than for Americans.

The entire name is Domenican REPUBLIC... ask for a ticket to "Domenican' and you will end up in DOMENICA... several hundred AmeriKans every year end up in Domenica because they can't use whole place names.

And YES... Everyone needs a passport to enter the D.R. and you won't even be able to buy an airline ticket unless you can produce your Passport when you buy the ticket

Wow....finally one person got it right. A passport is not required from Canada. Only a Birth Certificate and photo ID. The only time a passport would be required is if you are going to be deplaning in the US.

People, if you don't know then don't bother answering with false info.

Age has nothing to do, you need a passport and you need to buy a visa at the arrival (airport).

sitram
What's the problem to travel with passport? Passport is your international official ID by excellence, issue your passport if you don't have one, if you are underage, you prob will travel with your parents.

Yayi
Yes, you need a passport to get into the Dominican Republic (DR). Also upon arrival at the airport they will request for you to get a $10 tourist card which is a small card that will try to get all your personal information.
