I have never been to Negril, but it looks really nice. I stayed in Montego Bay at a Sandals resort. It was beautiful. We were right next to the airport, some people like that and some don't. There is a coral reef right outside the resort so the waves weren't really big when they come in at all. The ocean water was pretty warm. When we stayed in Montego Bay we went to Ocho Rios for the day. It is about a 2 hour drive from Montego Bay. We climbed the beautiful Dunn River Falls. It was hard work, but it was fun. My husband also swam with the dolphins. It is windier on that side of the island and the water was also pretty warm. There tended to be more waves. If I could go to Jamaica again, I would love to go to Negril. They have the white sand beaches on that side. I heard it is beautiful. If I had to pick between the two I have been, I would probably stay in Ocho Rios. They only bad thing about going to Jamaica was the people constantly begging, offering you pot, and trying to get you to buy things from them. I would also go with a resort who picks you up at the airport and drops you back off there. You usually can trust them the most.

Ocho Rios is my favorite because it is not as crowded as Montego Bay with tourist, yet you have the night life, beaches and everything there. It is in between some other towns if you want a day trip somewhere.

Negril is beautiful, a bit more remote.

Montego Bay is lovely, but just too too crowded for me.

I went to Negril, for a wedding and loved it! My friend that got married had been to Ocho Rio a year befor and decided to marry in Negril, because they loved it more... As I could see Negril is the nicest, for water, beaches and privacy. We went threw Montego Bay and from what we saw were very happy that we stayed where we did, (short beaches and bigger more like sky scrapper hotel's), you get what you pay for! It's worth the extra money to go to Negril, trust me you wont be disappointed!

Ok I will throw a wrench in your plans. How about Port Antonio. It really doesn't matter where you stay the flavour is very different in every part of Jamaica.

Right now I am big on getting a villa and getting the all inclusive plan

Go to Montego Bay. It's really beautiful and smells pretty good compared to Kingston. Ocho Rios has nice activites like this park called Dolphin Cove where you can swim with dolphins and all kinds of other animal and water stuff. Negril has all the hottest parties so if you love to party go to Negril.

I am going to Montego bay soon , i was born there and lived there for 20years now i am in north america so i am going for vacation there for one month
Montego bay is the BEST , negril too, alot of fun to have there.

Am Jamaican and i know Montego bay is very russ place people walking all over and ocho rios is better nice view nice place negril also

A lot depends on what you want to do. Negril has the largest beach, because the resorts are the beach there appears to be more nightlife/partying. If not into the beach, stay on the cliff side. Marijuana is easiest to get in Negril though I don't recommend you getting any. Lots of quieter resorts/guesthouses will have a joint being passed around the bar most evenings. Ocho Rios is quieter unless a cruise ship is in for the day. The resorts are individual complexes, not connected like Negril which means you either have to leave the compound or have the came people. Montego Bay is spread out and not my favorite spot. I'd head for Negril first, Ocho Rios second and then Montego Bay only if I couldn't get to some other part of Jamaica. If you want nature and just relaxing try Port Antonio (east of Ocho Rios) or St. Elizabeth, southeast of Negril.
