Both Canadian and U.S. cash and traveller's cheques can be changed at hotels and currency exchanges for Dominican pesos. It is sometimes easier to exchange U.S. traveller's cheques. (When cashing traveller's cheques, make sure you take your passport or I.D. with you). At the present time (Feb./05) there seems to be a definite advantage to taking U.S. currency over other currencies. In some cases U.S. currency can be used to pay for tours, etc. booked at the hotel, without having to change it into pesos first. (Also, if you're planning on visiting the casinos, you should take U.S. money for that, otherwise you have to play with pesos, and if you win, you'll win in pesos, which are difficult to change, whereas if you play with U.S. money, your winnings are paid in U.S. money). Canadian currency must be changed into pesos. Credit cards are widely accepted in the Dominican Republic.

you can check the site below but keep in mind whenever you change you pay.

You should convert your Canadian dollars to DOP pesos. It's your best deal.

For every Canadian dollar=32.6 DOP pesos (40 times 32.6 =1,304)
For every US dollar=34.79 DOP pesos (37 times 34.79=1,287.23)

Why lose money twice converting your money.

I would use a credit card for excursions and purchases. I would exchange a small amount of money for pesos as needed. You are staying at a all-inclusive, You won't need much money.

Have fun)

well do you plan to buy stuff? i mean you don't necessarily need to buy anything if you're doing an all inclusive vacation. but American dollars is really really easy to pay in. like if you buy stuff at the airport, the prices are shown in dollars not in pesos, strangely enough. buying stuff in touristy places dollars and euros are equally acceptable, candian dollars I'm not sure.

don't convert your money in pesos. Its more confusing when buying products and harder to bargin. The people selling stuff to you might rip you off.
