Jamaica is as known against gays but when you are on the Hedo property that is allowed as you may have already know it's a type of freaky hotel you do what ever you want there so long as it's safe and not going to hurt the other guests. I was there in 2006 and I enjoy myself, I am not gay but alot of gays were there kissing making out, stuff like that plus some of the staff is gay, they wear a colour coded band so you know what they are into. maybe partner swap, group sex, threesomes, when you get there you can ask but it's fun to be there. and it's SAFE! not need to be afraid. Go and enjoy your self |

Hedo II & III attract the most open minded people you'll find anywhere, so I seriously doubt you'll have a problem. At least I've never seen a problem. What is not acceptable, is openly gay male sexual activity at Hedo. Not surprisingly, it's no problem for openly gay (or experimenting) females. Go figure :) You'll also see it with hetero sexual couples late night in the hot tubs.

Jamaica in general is not gay-friendly - just the opposite, from what I've read. Don't know what the resort itself is like, but if you stay on the resort premises, you probably wouldn't have a problem.
You might see whether there are any comments on this at TripAdvisor.com. Or if you know of a travel website that evaluates how gay-friendly different places are, check that. |

technically jamaica is not gay friendly but contrary to popular belief its quite gay TOLErant. In tourist areas, tolerance is higher and Hedo in particular is very openminded and probably friendliest.
That said Jamaica has a conservative culture. we are prudes really and though or music and rituals may seem sexual and allowed there there is a bit of a double standard with outward show! I say this to say... that two men/women walking hand in hand and kissing in public will create a spectacle (years ago two hetro sexuals doing with would too)
Jamaicans tend to be offended with "in your face homosexuality" but tolerating it and turning a blind eye to it is the most common attitude (because there are lots of gay jamaicans).
So my advice is to keep private things private. |
