In Jamaica would a House Rat have the same meaning as a Hood Rat in America?

A house rat is someone who stays in the house. A hood rat is a ho ho. No. The Jamaican word for hood rat is skettel.
N.B. Contrary to a previous answerer, not all ghetto girls are skettels.

HA
people if u dnt know wat u tlkn about nuh seh nutin man cho. Bomboclate does not mean mother fu*cker it cnt be translated its just a curse word. a house rat is someone who stays in all day and doesnt leave their house. a hood rat is like a sketel, buttu, chicken head etc

A hood rat in Jamaica is a skettel !
That means a girl who is low and don't have any values to herself. Kind of like a hoe.

First off in America a hood rat and a house rat means totally different. in america a hood rat is a ghetto person and a house rat is some who does not go anywhere out of the house. So in Jamaica a hood rat is pretty much a ghetto person too and we call a " skettel". And a house rat is pretty much someone who does not have any outside fun outside of the house.

Keisha
No, a house rat is a homebody not a hood rat. A hood rat would be a ghetto girl or a skettel.

Lisa M.
Doubt it.

Not sure what a hood rat is, but a house rat is someone who rarely comes out of his/her house.

A House Rat (here in the U.S) is a person that's always at someones house (mostly unwelcomed) who eat, sleep, drink, or nest there until you run them out. A Hood Rat is a female that's down with her life, no guy is a stranger to her anatomy and etc. Most low life guys in the Neighborhood is no better.
