These days calypsonians don't shine like they used to but my picks would be

1. Kitchener
2. Sparrow
3. Pretender
4. Merchant
5. Nelson
6. Cro Cro
7. Chalkdust
8. Shadow
and all de rest after...

For Soca Artistes
1. Machel Montano - The Tai Pan of Soca

7. Nadia Batson (I give her props cause although she only start singing recently, she's been writing NO 1 hits for years)

I saw a number of people list David Rudder under Soca and Calypso but the truth is... David Rudder is in a league all by himself....
There has been an ongoing dispute for years about what his style of music should be termed.
I don't think he sings either of the genres so I not even going to put my foot in my mouth and try to define him.
I can say though that he has been higly successful with his own calibre of music

And yes I agree Black Stalin is a great, but like Rudder, he is in a class by himself.....Come on everyTrinbagonian knows word for word 'Tonight the black man feelin to party.......tonight the black man feelin to jam jam jam........tonite the black man just feelin to boogee woogee', no matter what race we are. Considering all the racial tension in TnT, no one ever thinks about it when we chippin down the road to that song.
