Incidents of violent crime have been steadily on the rise on both islands still safe to travel to Trinidad ?

AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman from central Trinidad was abducted by five men early yesterday morning, taken to a beach in Manzanilla and gang-raped by the men.The dazed, bleeding half naked woman was found on the beach by limers who immediately called the police. The woman told police that she attended a Christmas party in Chaguanas on Saturday night and at about 4 am yesterday, was standing at the side of a road awaiting transport to go home. Without warning, a car stopped abruptly in front of her and two men grabbed and forced the screaming teen into the car which sped off. While the driver headed to Manzanilla, the other four men beat the woman who begged for her life to be spared. She was also indecently assaulted in the car. At the deserted beach, the men threw the teen on the sand and took turns raping her. The victim was taken to hospital where she was treated for shock. Police sources said that based on information they have received, they are confident that all five rapists will be detained.
