Is Aruba a good Honeymoon Destination?

We're planning on heading to Aruba in October 2008. Are hurricanes a concern there this time of year? Anyone with some good ideas of where to stay.

Thanks so much!

You are picking a good location for October travel. Aruba is out of the hurricane belt.

Any resort on Palm beach or Eagle beach will be the best location. Bucuti Beaach Reort is a lovely quaint resort. Check it out.

Congrats and have a beautiful trip)

Supposedly, Aruba is out of the hurricane zone, so it doesn't get them very often.

Had my honeymoon in 2001. Stayed at the Holiday Inn. There is a strip of hotels (Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Regency...etc) all along the same beach to meet different budgets. Was the best time. I actually lived on St. Croix for 6 years and this was awesome. The people were great, hospitable and not pushy. They understand the importance of tourism. Love to hear how it goes...........

Congratulations on your future marriage!

I think Aruba is a GREAT choice. It is warm/hot without being oppressive- becuase there is always a constant breeze- dont worry- its not as bad as people say it is, its just a constant 5 mph breeze so if you dont do well in the heat- there is always a little fan there!

Personally I stayed at both the Marriot and the Hyatt. In the case of the Marriot, it was a lot nice than what you would think of a 'normal Marriot' in the US- good, but not great. It had excellent food, great pools, good beach location and lots of activities. But then again so did the Hyatt. I personally would look into both of them when booking. You might want to also talk to a travel agent becuaes there might be hotels on different points in the island that might be better- I know these two are one of the two farthest away from the airport, so its about a 30 minute haul from the airport- but if you decide, I do not think you will be dissapointed :-)

Good luck!

Great Place to go! We went there 3 times and always stayed i the "OLD FARM HOUSE HOTEL" nice place, very personal, has only 12 Suites( all with Jaccuzi) only 3 minutes walk to the main Beach( opposite from the Hotel)
The only thing was, its always soooooooo windy!! So , either you cut your Hair short, or dont bother to go for the hair dresser!
My 2 cents

Aruba is one of my favourite places. Its a great spot for a honeymoon. The island itself is very small but everyone is so friendly. Its a great time. I wouldnt advise the holiday inn or the holiday something. The Westin was by far the best hotel. Have a good one.

I haven't been there in October, but I went there in March about six years ago. The beach was nice, but SO windy. I just remember the sand blowing on my legs felt like needles piercing into my skin. After the beach, we went shopping and this nice lady tied one of her Aruba bracelets that she was selling around my wrist because I looked really sad... my older sister was picking on me all day (lol, I was 9). So, from my personal experience, I don't remember Aruba as being on of my favorite places, but now I look back on it and it was nice. We were only there for a day though (cruise), so it was probably just a really windy day. Anywho... the beach is nice and the people there are very kind. You should stay at an American hotel (e.g. Hilton, Mariott, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons). It's usually the best way to go. As others have said, hurricanes aren't a problem in October.
