I've travelled to Barbados solo many times and having to been to Caribbean islands, personally I choose Barbados as it's my favourite. Barbados has great beaches even there are ones that few people go to.

All you have to do is use common sense and you'll be fine.

You can mainly get around using local transit (yellow mini buses, big blue buses or route taxis for $1.50 BDD, taxis running only on flat rates,a rental of a vehicle even go on an island tour.

Barbados has a lot to offer - don't pass the beautiful island up! It's up to you on how long you want to go for, either it be a week, 2 weeks or even a week and half.

If you're interested in nightlife, you'll find it in St.Lawrence Gap where there are various clubs, restaurants even hotels and so on and also along Bay Street in its capital, Bridgetown.

Barbados has always been much safer than some of the other islands, use common sense and you will enjoy yourself thoroughly.

As to being seedy (I think not!) come and check it out for yourself.

Suki's mom are you speaking about the right country, because although I left Barbados years ago to live in New York, Barbados was never seedy or had something evil brewing, maybe you visited there and did not enjoy your stay
and now your bad talking the place. If you didn't like there, why did you make a second visit?
Mister go visit and see for yourself what the country is like.

Bajan Princess =]
I prefer Barbados, when i went to Grenada it was boring to me and the shopping wasnt that great either(just my opinion). I live in Barbados so i can tell you abaout it.

Barbados is a reletively safe place you just have to apply common sense in different situations, dont go to the beach alone at night etc.
They are beautiful beaches here and many to choose from...trust me.
Barbados has something for everyone come and enjoy! =)

Highly Favoured
Barbados is relatively safe to compare with other islands and countries. The crime rate here is very low but you should still take the necessary precautions as you would in your own country.

It is one of the best places that anyone should visit. The beaches are very beautiful and free. Some of the best ones to visit are on the south and west coast where the water is much calmer that the east. These are Miami/Enterprise beach, Worthing near Worthing police station in Christ Church, Hilton or Grand Barbados, Drill Hall beach behind the Hastings Police Station, Bayshore/Browne Beach on Bay Street, and all along the west coast including Mullins.

There are many areas that you can find entertainment for your age. there are places like the Reggae Lounge, Ship Inn, Club Extreme where the local young people hang out, Cafe Sol, Jumbies, Harbour Lights and Boatyard among others.

I am sure that if you come here you would not regret it and you will get some friends.

Please disregard Suki, she has no idea what she's talking about.

Single guys? What are you looking for, cheap prostitutes? Ummmm...maybe you want to go somewhere else?

suki's mom
I personally did not like Barbados, dear Vlad. The people are rude and the ambiance is a bit rough. I have been there twice. I doesn't feel safe, the island has a kind of seediness to it. Like there is always something evil brewing. I would like to recommend you Puerto Rico. What a lovely place that is. Great place to meet beautiful, sweet people.
