You might get that impression by the amount of american owned companies and resorts going in there and the way some of the tourists act....like they own the place. Thankfully Jamaica is a country unto its own. I think if the americans owned it they would tear down the country-side and turn the country into a mega-mall and parking lots.

No Jamacia is it's own country and not a part of the U.S. just like Germany, China, or Brazil. The island of St. Maartan and St. Croix and other St. Islands are U.S. territories.
