Kingston's great if you know a lot of people. But it can be a problem if you wander around on your own. Parts of it a really dirty and smelly, and there's a lot of experienced street hustlers prepared to take your money. Don't keep your wallet in your back pocket because pickpockets use a razor to remove your wallet. Ouch!

Really Kingston is NOT a vacation spot...its mostly city streets, crime & corporate business there.

Try Negril, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios

NO KINGSTON!!! Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rio - those are the spots...not Kingston. Jamaica is so extremely beautiful, I would suggest you remain in the parts most tourists visit like the 3 towns I mentioned above. Those are the resort areas. Kingston is not a resort area...and it may not even be a SAFE area..so use good judgement. Have fun and enjoy :)

Jamaica is a good place for a vacation but you don't want to spend your anniversary in Kingston. Kingston's the commercial capital and has very few tourist attractions. It might take a day maximum to see the sites of Kingston. There are no beaches in Kingston. IMHO Port Royal has more to offer tourists then Kingston. Instead of Kingston, fly into Montego Bay and travel to some resort in Negril (if you want to party), Ocho Rios (if you want relaxing), Port Antonio (if you want nature). I personally don't like MoBay cause there isn't any "downtown" and most resorts have small man-made beaches. Spend some time checking out the west and north coasts of Jamaicamon and head there. While not as well developed there are some nice smaller places around St. Elizabeth on the southern coast too. But don't plan on a vacation in Kingston.

If you are any skin color other than black, stay out of Kingston. It is not really a good tourist spot.

Jamaica is, on the other hand, a great place to visit. I would recommend Negril or Ocho Rios as spots to celebrate your 3 year anniversary. Negril has the nicest beach in Jamaica and Ocho Rios has Dunn's River Falls which is a must see.
