Is March or April a good time for a western Carribean Cruise? |
We are planning our first cruise and will be sailing from Galveston, TX to Jamaica, Grand Caymen, etc. Is the weather in March or April good for this type of cruise or will it be cold and windy? |

OMG! Lucky you. March and April will be beautiful. I can say that because I live in Florida and dive the Keys all year long and the climate is very similar. The water might be a tad cold, maybe 76-78 degrees, but you will get used to it quickly, the air temp will be great. it won't be cold for sure! It will be nice, I've been to Jamaica in March and into April last year and there was very light rain or no rain.
and as for splatter's comment; sept/oct is a no-no as that is hurricane season |

You're going to get lovely weather at that time of year at those destinations. Not too hot and unlikely to rain. I can't answer for Galveston, but I can promise you good weather in the Caribbean. |

Cold and windy in the Caribbean?
You're kidding, right?
Been there many times in all seasons, and I've never had a slight chill. Hurricane season is June through October, but I've never experienced any bad weather even then. Gets a bit windy sometimes, but it's warm and pleasant and beautiful.
Only concern about March and April is that many schools have spring breaks then, so you may end up on a ship with a lot more children than you'd like. Never been a problem for me, but some of my clients (I'm a travel agent) prefer not being around children. I kinda like it, as long as they aren't mine and I don't have to chase them around.
