It's a classy and safe area
Ocean Park is an affluent suburb of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is one 40 sub-barrios of Santurce. The land area measures 0.52 km² (520,891 m²), with a resident population of 1,976 as of U.S. Census of 2000. It is bound on the east by Calle Guerrero Noble and its straight extension to the beach, a short piece of Calle Cacique running east to connect to Calle Teniente Rivera, and the connecting piece of Calle Soldado Cruz to Calle LoÃza. The southern border is Calle LoÃza. In the west, it is Calle MarÃa Mozco (northern part) and Calle Santa Ana. In the north, there is the beach of the Atlantic Ocean.
In the center of the district is the park Parque Barbosa. The residential area (urbanización) north and east of the park, Santa Teresita, forms the eastern part of the district.
Ocean Park has a popular wide ocean beach. Offshore reefs prevent large waves reaching the beach. Strong seasonal onshore trade winds make the area popular for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The beach is located between Condado and Isla Verde beaches, and the neighbourhood is notable for its small guesthouses which blend in with the residential community |

It is very safe if you stay in the crowded areas at night. I would say it is a perfect location, in walking distance to the beach, night spots, and great restaurants. Just take the preventive measures you will take in any other place. But generally, it is safe. Also you will find there a younger crowd, crowded beaches during the day and bonfires at night. |

Ocean Park is a middle to high class residential area. It is really close to many great restaurants, popular beaches, tourist spots, and night life. However, there are some low income housing areas around it and crime does happen. My sister used to live in Ocean Park and once had her car window broken, they stole CD's, radio, etc. I'd say it is ok during the day. Just be careful at night. |
