Yeh it is easy because you only need an ID from the US. But it is a nice vacation place too. There is so much to do & see. San Juan is the big city. Old San Juan is very nice to see. There is alot of beautiful historical sites like el Morro Fort, a must see. Then there are plenty of stores, restaurants, casinos, nightclubs, & more to keep you busy. There are some nice beahces like Isla Verde & Condado, they are nice for San Juan, but not the best in PR. You can also get a ferry to Catano to go to the Bacardi Factory tour.
Then outside of San Juan there are some gorgeous sites. el Yunque rain forest on the east coast is about 45 mins from San Juan. You can walk the trails & swim in the waterfalls. Afterwards you can go to the bioluminescent lagoon or Luquillo beach. Arecibo Telescope & Camuy Caves are nice sites west from San Juan. Ponce is a nice city to see also. & if you want the most gorgeous beaches go to Vieques or Culebra island. Watch this video for a better idea. Enjoy :) |

Ive lived in FL for over 15 years and was born in NY and ive also lived in Boston and PA. well im not that old, 28.
but my point is, now I live here in PR, so by experience I can tell u that u dont need a passport (thats if u are an American citizen only) you just need your photo ID and money. yes, its cheaper than Hawaii. No, its not a dangerous place and its not a third world country, so its one of the safest places to visit in the world, and u wont get food poisoning. the crime rate is high due to personal social issues, from drug dealings and passionate unaffairs, which is internal crime, its not like u
walk down an alley and get pocked in the butt for no reason.
about the cool part, it all depends. ive seen amazed tourist and disapointments as well, if u like to party and get drunk, then old san juan at night its perfect to hang out with friends.
if u like nature, the beach and sporty activities, like bike riding, horse riding, motorcycles, swimming and/or scuba diving, and surfing, then PR is great to visit. now, if u are the kind that loves disney's amazing theme parks and artificial fun, then PR is not a great place for those things(because we dont have any huge theme parks). its true when the neighboor upstairs ^ says that their isnt much tourist things to do, if u come to PR u have to do things that locals usually do, go to the beach half a day, party at night and on weekends ride a harley davidson around the island or go horse riding in costal areas. |
