Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, but its government is run independently by the territory, not by the United States, but for all intents and purposes, yes, it is a part of the United States.

It's not a state, but it is a U.S. Territory.

it is a large history. you can find it anywhere in the internet.

Legally we are not a state. we are commonwealth. Territory of the united states. We are like the states but in spanish. Here are fast foods like Wendys, McDonalds, Burger King, Long John Silvers, Popeyes, etc. Phone Carrier like, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. Cable TV companies like, DirecTv. We have store like, Apple, Sears, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, We have the largest Jcpenny in the world, i the largest sears i think also, we have all that in the state are but we are not legally a state. we are a USA territory or a commonwealth. Also the postal service here is USPS (United States Postal Service).

The only two diferences is that the people here talk spanish and some are bilingual and here are more japanese cars than americans. this are the only two diference that i can found. but is all the same. The favorite destinations of puerto ricans in US are: Orlando and NYC. We don't need a passport to travel to the mainland. we only need an ID.

PR is not an official state like hawaii is.
PR is a common wealth of the US just like guam, the phillipines and the virgin islands are, but more associated to the US than these other countries.

PR has its own government and laws, some are similar to the US and PR also uses the same money as the states do.

Puerto Rico is an organized territoryof the USA. also it is a non-incorpored territory of the USA. The US Supreme Court have said that we are not "part" but more a "posession" / "property" of the USA.

More like a watch you "own", not as your hand that is "part" of you.
