Well so far there are 50 states, Puerto Rico is an incorporated territory of USA since 1898, Puerto Rico is a former colony of Spain. We are in the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. We aren't state, Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth, our long name is The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. We have our own government with a governor, a 2 chambers Senate and a Justice Department. We have local and federal law as in the states and a representative in the Senate of USA without voting. We can't vote for the President of USA, even when they come here to get money for theirs campaigns. We are American citizens since the Law Jones Act was signed by the Congress of USA.

No, its in the Caribbean. I do hope they become a state one day, as long as they pay taxes like everyone else.

Puerto Rico is a territory not a state.

Lower? You mean more to the south?
Yes. It is located in the Caribbean, nearer to the Equator than the 48 continental states.

what? that makes no sense PR is not a state... its an islad that is US territory, if ur born there, ur a US citizen, thats why so many Dominicans try to swim over, then come to America

No it's not part of the 50 states but it's US territory we took over Puerto Rico just because we felt like it but not interested in making it a state.

Puerto Rico is U.S. territory, but it's not a state. And hopefully it will never be one. I don't know why Americans would want to make Puerto Ricans a part of this country to begin with.
