no, it is considered US territory. i went there on a cruise last summer and it was the only place we didn't need our passports. it might be a good idea to have it just in case, but as far as needing it mandatory, you're okay without it. |

I have answer this qustion many times it all depends on Your immigration status..
us citizen coming from any states (hawaii and alaska) all they need is a Valid State ID.
Legal Resident of the usa..coming from the USA..they need their Resident (green card no longer green) and a state id.
Visitors from any other country they need their countries passport with a Tourist usa visa.

Well golden joy, assuming you are like Puerto Ricans (ie. an Amercian citizen) AND you are just moving within the US you do not need a passport.
Of course if you are coming into the US (San Juan, Miami, DC, Chicago...) from a foreign country you need a passport.
PR has been, since late 19th century, a part of the US, so again, when you move within the US you do not need a passport. |

No passport is required in Puerto Rico but is always good to carry it anywhere we go. I am Puerto Rican and I am currently in the process of obtaining one my self. |

If you are traveling via an international flight, yes.
If you are traveling from an USA state or territory, (domestic flight), no. |
