Most Caribbean countries are safe, however Dominica is not as developed as Barbados but its natural and unspoilt the mecca for Heritage Tourism in the Caribbean.
I live in Barbados but honestly if you want the best Barbados is your best bet,we are a tourist haven as tourism is our main foreignncurrency earner. However, if you want an unspoilt country with lush green vegetation Go Dominica.

The same safety precautions you would take at home in your country do take them when travelling abroad. Please note Dominica is mountainous while Barbados is flat.

Dominican Republic is a very safe place; of course you will have to take precautions when leaving your resort like any tourist in any part of the world. I personally lived in DR for 6 years and I never experience a dangerous experience and I visited many resort in different parts of the island. I’m sure Barbados is the same thing; they are both beautiful Caribbean getaways.

^^Smile^^
Both Places are relatives safe.
Barbados might be a lil more "chill out place" (meaning people dont be such in a rush in the street) than the dominican republic.

Hi Kyra!,
A lot of people talks and talks without knowing. Dominican Republic is one of the safest places in the Caribbean! Some cities in the USA and Europe are 10x more dangerous. For Barbados I don't know (not been there for the last 20 years), but here in the Dominican Republic everything is OK!

Certain areas of the Dominican Republic are very safe, while other are not. Two years ago there was a curfew in the Dominican Republic because of the crime wave goin on, but things have chilled since then.

As a rule, tourist areas and parts of the countryside are much safer than the urban areas. Take precautions when leaving your resort and NEVER leave a resort unaccompanied. Always be alert of ya surroundings as well.

Barbados is much safer as a whole when compared to the Dominican Republic. Barbados has one of the highest standards of living in North America, better than Mexico, Puerto Rico, and many southern states in the US as well. The island is rather small, and crime is low.
