Is it against USA law to to Visit Cuba?

It is not illegal for an American to go to Cuba, however, it is illegal for Americans to spend money in Cuba without a U.S. Treasury License. Therefore, by prohibiting the spending of money by American citizens in Cuba, the U.S. embargo is dissuading their citizens from traveling to Cuba. Regardless, many Americans travel to Cuba via third country such as Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Panama and spend cold hard cash or travelers checks issued outside of the U.S., since U.S. issued credit cards don't work in Cuba.

If there is a will there is a way!

Its not against the law but there are so many legal reasons for Americans to go through before they even get there that I don't think its worth the hassle for them.

It is not illegal for Americans to visit Cuba under the following conditions as outlined by the US State Department - see website link below:

Mr. Outrageous
Its very confusing but for the most part Americans ARE NOT ALLOWED to go to Cuba. There are no direct flights from ANY american city to Cuba [you have to connect in Mexico or Canada or Grand Cayman] I believe you CAN go to Cuba under certain laws[ like you have a relative, you're a journalist]. But if you do go DO NOT get your passport stamped. Just ask them not to.

P.S. If you want somewhere like Cuba with LESS trouble try Puerto Rico or The Dominican Republic.. Puerto Rico is pretty similar.

Isn't there an embargo that prevents Americans from going to Cuba? I believe that Michael Moore is now under investigation because he went there as part of his next documentary on the health care system.

No, but don't try to take any cigars back with you when you go back home! Anyway, why would you want to go to Cuba? Wait a couple of years till Castro checks out, and they kick Communism to the kerb. The people are great! It's that bearded jerk who keeps them down. The people scrounge money (Dollars, not Peso's) there are no shops, the once grand buildings are falling to pieces, the cops are bent, it's tough to get toilet paper, soap and a whole bunch of other stuff. Wait! Don't go yet.
