good question. our all-inclusive was top notch (sandals negril), the bars poured Absolute, etc. however you want it. The restaurants were super. I'm guessing you might go a.i. for a couple weeks to get the lay of the land, find out what's good, and then when you get more familiar with the place, you'll prob save by going on your own.

Cheaper to stay at an an inclusive hotel
Blunt Honesty
All inclusive is nice, because you don't have to worry about running out of money while you are there. You don't have to tip. You often have a private beach for your resort only. The resort plans trips that you can take to go shopping into the towns too.

Since you are staying for a whole month...its cheaper to stay at a cheap hotel and get food at a market or on street. All inclusives are great but can be expensive as the price also includes alcohol. However.....if money is not an option....go for the gusto and stay at all inclusives all over the island.

I will never stay at anything other than all-inclusive. It's amazing how much better it was....

Stay in an all-inclusive resort. Jamaica is a very poor country. The people can be desperate. Don't leave your pretty wife or girl friend alone off the resort or you may not see her again. Keep an eye on your valuables or put them in the resort safe. Always make an extra copy of your passport and plane ticket and keep it really safe so, if you have an encounter with some 'undesirables', you can at least get home.
