Is it possible for U.S. citizens to vacation in Cuba? |
I know you can get flights there out of Canada and Mexico, but is that a good way to do it? Is there a legal way? |

It is not possible for US citizens to vacation in Cuba legally under US law, unless they have close family in Cuba.
There are many direct flights between Cuba and the US - but these are only for Cubans with visas to enter the US and US residents with OFAC permission to visit Cuba. And you cannot get OFAC permission for a vacation in Cuba. Family visits and business only. (OFAC regards family visits as no vacation !!)
The rest all have to travel illegally via a third country - and many thousands do that with no problems. |

In response to the previous answer, it is not true that Cubans dislike Americans. Most are very welcoming and curious - every Cuban I met was eager to ask questions of American tourists and discover a little more about American culture. Remember, many Cubans have relatives, or at least acquaintances, living in America, & Cuban cinemas and tv channels frequently show North American films and sitcoms. As an American, you should find the majority of Cubans warm and friendly towards Americans. |

you can go to Cuba but it is illegal for an American to spend money in Cuba due to the embargo
you can face a fine of $7500 if caught

Yes you can do that. But you can also try to get flights directly from the U.S.
The only thing is that you need to have special permission to fly from the U.S to Cuba to do it 'legally' as there are special circumstances for such travel. So you can see if you fit any of the specifications.
If you go via Canada or Mexico, be sure that you do not leave any paper trails (such as receipts, tickets, etc) from Cuba.
But check the links below to see your different options and read carefully. |

there are no US flights to cuba. you have to fly out from another country. and you can only go if you have a visa. i, on the other hand have dual citizenship to the US and Denmark so i can go whenver. but keep in mind cubans DO NOT like americans. so be careful if you go |
