Is it safe to use my contact lenses in the dominican republic? |
The tap water is bad in the d.r and i dont think the contact solution is strong enough to kill of the dangerous bacteria in the water.
Additional Details
I wash my hands in tap water before putting on my contacts. |

I lived in D.R. for almost 25 years, I used contact lenses, I never had problems, the tap water is not the best for human drink, but good enough for wash your hands, take a bath, wash your clothes, etc. |

Tap water is the LAST thing you want to put in your contacts. It has many chemicals that eat away at them! (Even if you are in Canada/America) Use ONLY contact solution or you can ruin your contacts and/or get a horrible eye infection. |

I had contacts in the DR for nine months and never had any problems. Use bottled water if you are concerned. |

They have water bottles there. We had some from our hotel that were actually imported from the states, but if your reseort doesnt maybe just bring a small water bottle with just enough water, Just make sure to put it in your checked baggage :P Have fun :) |

i was there for almost two months these summer and i use contact lenses and i didnt have any problems.
i used to take a shower and everything.
and im sure if your staying at a nice resort there water that is good or you can just buy a bottle of water.
i dont think its that bad but i know you dont want to have any problem. |

Used bottled water. You can buy this from local supermarkets + its extremely cheap.
If this isn't an option and you are going all inclusive you should get some in the fridge in you're room.
If you don't I'm sure you'll be able to request some at reception.
(It will 99% likely be in you're fridge though. It has been at every resort I have stayed at) |
