It is true that people come up to you to sell you drugs, especially if you are young and "look the type." However, I have never heard of the same people turning you into the police. Many in Jamaica sell drugs for income because that country is in such poverty and good jobs are almost impossible to get. It is hard to imagine how it would be profitable to turn someone into the police.

You have to be in unscrupulous places for people to come and sell you drugs. No Jamaican drug dealer is going to report you to the police. However, if you make the drug trade your livelihood in Jamaica, the police will organize a sting operation and arrest you. Just be careful and you will have an uneventful experience.

Ivory Q
Why would it bother you at all if you not planning to buy anything? Just say NO if anyone offers.
Basically snitching in Jamaica is the last thing any "bad man" would do, "informer fi dead" as they say. But actually there are undercover police agents who can try to sell some stuff to tourist to get exctra cash as bribe.

Jesus never live in Jamaica, he was living
in Israel, and people sell drugs their so what is the big deal about Jamaica, No the story is not true, if you are not buying why should you even worry,Some people want to visit but dont have the money to do so,so they talk all kind of bull.

I've been to Jamaica four times...just returned three weeks ago, and I have never been approached by anyone selling drugs. Jamaica is like any other country in the world; you should consider your surroundings anywhere you go. Negril, for instance, has a more obvious party atmosphere, and you may be more likely to be approached. What is to worry? If you're not looking to buy, you don't have a problem anyway! Remember, drugs are illegal in Jamaica, too. It's such a beautiful country, with so much to see and do, and such wonderful people who make their living all kinds of honorable ways, not just in selling drugs!

people in jamaica just don't come up to u and offer to sell drugs. It's only if u are interested in drugs and ask someone to take u where u can get it.
why would someone sell u drugs then tell on u. That would be a silly game unless u give the person a reason to do so. And even if u mess with someone - they would rather kill u themselves than tell the police. Drug dealers hate cops except corrupt cops.
Just don't go to jamaica for drugs - go to enjoy urself. This depends on which drugs - u can get a little marijuana to smoke ( from someone u know) it's illegal though.

Not sure if this is true although I have heard it's easy to buy drugs there. Why would you want to buy drugs in a foreign country or buy them at all anyway?

moonlillies
I do know that they constantly hound you about buying drugs but I don't know about the snitch to police part. We were constantly being asked to buy when we were in the downtown areas.

*Just Married*
I stayed at Sandals Montego Bay this past November. My husband and I were offered pot, coke and ecstacy. Like others have said, they do not turn you into the police. This is how some locals make a living. In fact, we had security guards watching us talk to the dealers... and they never said anything.

*Sandals does not allow locals on the resort grounds, so they float around on little boats trying to sell jewelry, large sea shells and drugs.

It's easy to buy drugs in Jamaica but I never heard of them turning you in. Bad for business, if they did, I would think. At all the resorts easy to hook up with someone who can get it for you. That's what I heard.
