Is it worth going back and forth for a guy in Cuba?? |
So, the last few times that I've been to Varadero I've meet up with the same guy who lives there. The first time I went to Cuba I meet him and instantly had a thing for him. My last night there I was in such a rush to leave for my flight that we weren't able to exchange our numbers. I was there last week again and I actually bumped into him! I spent my last few days and nights with him and we luckily got to exchange numbers. It's funny because he speaks so little English and I speak so little Spanish but yet we talk for hours and they have been the best conversations I've every had with any other guy. The thing is I live in Canada and I'm not sure if it's worth for me to keep flying over to Cuba to see him. Should I still keep in contact? It's so werid that I can't stop thinking about him! His dad is actually Canadian and lives in Quebec and hes actually going to live there in about a year or two to attend University. I think that's what is keeping me from wanting to stay in contact with him because Quebec will be so much more closer to visit then Cuba all the time. But I do love Cuba so I do not mind going. But I'm spending so much money going to visit him all the time. Am I just being stupid? Should i just forget about him and live my life in Canada. I need help because I have no clue what to do!! |

The whole thing seems fishy. Did he tell you his father's name and address? I bet not! If I were your parent, I would advise you to not keep in contact. I think you can only get hurt, not to mention find yourself in a financial mess.
There are nice young men in Canada. Look around. Have fun here
"Am I just being stupid? Should i just forget about him and live my life in Canada. " YES. |

Whatever you do, do not marry this Cuban. So many of my friends have fallen in love in Cuba and got married. Once the brought him or her back to Canada and they received their papers. They were dumped and divorced. I`m not saying they are all bad like that, but 8 of 9 friends were used. |

how can you really enjoy a relationship with a person in another country. a relationship consists of being together, to talk, to share, to confide in, to laugh with, to be romantic, to enjoy leisure time with, and so on. the more you dont have these things the more you need them, so you really feel lost with out the fantasy of being with that person. try to go out and do other things and meet other people, his memory will soon fade |

I've never heard of a long distance relationship working -- except in the movies. Never. |

If you are asking the question, you probably know the answer already. Why don't you just stay away from Cuba for a while and perhaps go somewhere else? Let him come to Canada and then see what happens next. There are plenty of fish in the sea. Buena suerte! |

How sure are you that his father is Canadian and that he will be coming to Quebec to study in a year or two? This seems like a far-fetched story. I know Cubans (my Spanish is fluent and I have been there more than 10 times) and I know they make up stories to make themselves interesting or to get a foreigner to help them enter another country. He might even be spinning this tale to another girl. Just be careful. |

I had the same exact thing happen to me with my ex boyfriend of 6 months who was in another continent and actually from a different country that I met him from. The best conversations (more like primate sign language and understanding) but it was not going to work because he wasn't trying to learn English... I think personally, guys should try their all to be with us after your many attempts on being together. No matter what.... |

You should keep in touch with him and see what happens when he goes to university. Until he does go, maybe you can rotate your visits. He can visit you, then you can visit him. Also, phone calls and definitely letters are cheaper. They also give you a chance to get to know him without the intrusion of intimacy. |

Well, i think you should keep your friendship with this guy.. Maybe you should communicate through mail and not spend so much money going to Cuba, i mean you can travel to Cuba, but very often will cost you a fortune; as you said flights to Cuba are really expensive. Letters can keep you two in touch and give you the opportunity to know each other better. Let time decide what will happen next :) |
