It depends on what definition you consider to mean "best." For those of us who were born and raised in kingston Jamaica, it would probably be defined as extraordinary (depending on what part of kingston). It also poses an area for great opportunity ( career wise and school wise). However, for tourism, I would not recommend. Looking for a good time, clubs, beaches or hotels; people would more look to mobay, negril and ochi. Those of us who were raised in the more rural, cooler climate areas would definitely not see kingston as the best. But to answer your question, the answer is better left on experience. |

Kingston is a very large, metro area....good for shopping, industry, corporate, and commercial goods.....other than that, it sucks !
PLEASANT is wrong, Kingston is NOT the oldest, that would be Spanish Town, the old capitol of Jamaica. And no one ( that visits Jamaica ) has any clue about Portmore. |

Hope Gardens
Port Royal (shook by earthquake in 1692)
Port Henderson
University of the West Indies
Blue Mountains rising 7,402 feet.

We only have three cities, Kingston, Montego Bay and Portmore.
Kingston the oldest, is mainly a commercial city, but has excellent night clubs.
Montego Bay is the tourist capital and has lovely beaches, great nightlife and less commercialized.
Portmore is the youngest of all and quickly becoming similar to Kingston, commercialized with a few good night clubs.
Negril and Ocho Rios are towns, but are similar or even better than Montego Bay. |

It depends on why you are going to Jamaicamon. If it's for business, Kingston's the best spot. If it's for crime, again, Kingston. If it's for tourism, Kingston's about the worst spot in Jamaica. If it's for drinking red stripe, Kingston will do though I prefer a more rural location. If it's for flying into the country to visit Port Royal, Kingston's a better bet then Montego Bay. |
