Is marajuana/hash legal in the Montego Bay area of Jamaica?

not legal but I was just there a couple weeks ago. I stayed at Breezes Runaway Bay and after midnight it lingered in the air. Was able to smoke in the resort disco and no one said anything. as for buying it there i got it from our driver that took us from airport to our resort. don't think I would get it from someone who approached me on the beach. Had several offers though. I also heard talk to the taxi drivers. by the way best smoke ever...too bad I couldn't bring it home.

Not legal, although we smoked on our balcony in plain view daily with no problem mon. We also smoked at Nine Mile, way up in the mountains. I suggest not doing it near the airport or when you're out and about, on the streets, in a car, etc. Don't even have it on you in a car - there are random checkpoints in Jamaica.

no its not legal in Jamaica.......but alot of people think it is....go to Jamaica and have fun......forget the smoking, save yourself a few brain cells.....might need em when you get back home!!!

No, it's not legal, but it's readily available. Save the smoking for the beach or your room. There are a lot of nice, little local beaches. Don't smoke on the tourist beaches. Be careful, the laws are more strict than in California at least. Also you can safely smoke at sound system dances.

I have been there, no it is not legal. However ,people sell it everywhere and will just come up to you and ask you if you want some. I would not buy it. You do not want to get busted for drugs in a foreign country. Based on what I saw there, I imagine the prisons would be pretty darn unpleasant. Save the smoking for home.

Yes, marijuana is legal in some Countries. When i was in Mexico, it was perfectly legal to smoke it there but you just couldn't bring it back into the U.S. I bet the Carribean is the same to where you can smoke it there. Allot of times, in foreign countries, you will see the drugs growing everywhere. They smoke pot because they work long days and it helps with the stress and the long hours of work. Hell, even Iraq it is legal to smoke marijuana.

Those of you that said it isn't legal is completely wrong! Why would you want to smoke pot anyways? All you do is kill brain cells.

NO, drugs are illegal there as well. If you get caught with them (most of the dealers are working with the police), you will be subject to Jamaican laws and their prison system. Question is, is it worth the risk?

Mo, Marijuana isn't legal in Amsterdam, it's decriminalized. Big difference. You are only allowed to have 3 grams.

More than 1,100 people have been murdered in Jamaica during the past year - an increase of nearly 30% on the previous year and the highest number ever recorded in a single year.

The Caribbean island of just over 2.5 million people has one of the worst murder rates in the world.

Detective Sergeant Jubert Lllewellyn said that Jamaica was being used increasingly by drug traffickers.

Another cause of so many deaths was fighting between gangs of political activists in the capital, Kingston.

More police recruited

The worst outbreak of inter-gang fighting erupted in the capital in May, leaving 71 dead.

In July, another 28 people were killed in gunfights when police and soldiers moved in to restore order.

The Defence Minister, Peter Phillips, has announced plans to recruit 1,000 more police officers to enforce new anti-crime measures due to be announced this month.

The government also plans to recruit an unspecified number of soldiers.
