Depends on where in the Caribbean you are interested in, either English, Dutch or French. And no, I'm from Canada, but have been to Barbados a lot. I think for you since you're from the U.K., the Caribbean places would be Barbados, British Virgin Islands... But if you don't have a spouse to sponsor you in order for marriage, then try to look for a company on a specific island, and see if you can be sponsored then speak to immigration or an embassy. |

i have lived in the u.k all my life. i'm 40. and i hate the place. mainly because of our so called goverment. and if it was not for the fact that i have children. i would move tomorrow. ok not tomorrow because my salary is to heavly tax'ed. but i would save up and move. and the caribbean as well as canada would be a very good choice. go for it. good luck. follow the dream. |

I would advise you to learn to dive and get the appropriate qualification if you want to work with marine animals. You could then look for a job in the eco tourist industry on a dive boat or similar. I would advise doing your homework, investigating the island of your choice (Grand Cayman would be a good one) and taking a hard look at what is on offer on the spot. Your prospective employer could then sort out the paperwork and you could return when a work permit is issued. |

The Caribbean is a large place and not all of it is English speeking . It great in part and not so great in other parts but overall it is amazing. It is a least one of the only continents that is not at war with some other nation,
Some of the islands are poor in money but they are rich in love for each other |

If the climate suits you, i.e. high humidity and heat year round and if you can take the intense sun and it also helps to speak the language, go for it. You may find that working there could pose a problem as you will be competing with the natives of the country you to choose to live in for the jobs especially in marine biology. If you are granted a job over them, you may not find it as friendly a place. This is just conjecture but something to think about. Of course, if you go there and spend money on a residence and pay taxes to the country and are not vying for a job, you could live there in relative obscurity and comfort providing the climate suits you. It's easy to be swept away by the tourquoise, crystal clear waters and bountiful reefs but could that sustain you? I too had fantasies about a permanent move there but now am content to visit for a week or two and then come home to the states. Most of the countries are very poor and when we visit, we see only the best parts. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm but be prepared to take the good with the bad. Being that you are from the UK, you could probably land a job on a cruise ship. They love to hire for the accent alone. LOL! |
