ANTIGUA has 365 LOVELY beaches, warm, friendly, inviting accommodating people. Delicious local dishes, lots to see and do. Check out http://www.antiguanice.com and see for yourself.

Lovely sites, hikes, explore the coral reefs - you can feed the fish. Get a taste of the night life - clubs, etc... so much so much so much..... Oooh I forgot to mention the Sunsets....... breath-taking and the moonlight sky with the stars all aglow...... http://www.adventureantigua.com/...

You won't regret it - it's a very romantic island to visit.

The Caribbean has a lot of nice places however depending on your budget and interests, you would have to determine what it is you are looking for. USVI & Bahamas is a favourite among US tourists because it's a bit closer & the duty-free shopping is always mentioned. Barbados is my favorite among myself and many friends. I always feel safe there and the island is small enough to travel around with public transportation and feel comfortable. You can snorkle, swim with the turtles, drink in the many rum shops/bars, and they have a good nightlife (as well as there is something to do most times of the year). Hurricane season isn't usually a problem compared to most islands closest to the US.

You can stay at a hotel or rent a cheaper villa or apartment with many of the same amenities (ie. phone/cable/kitchen/AC/maid service).

St.Lucia is also nice & has a lot to offer to couples. They have good nightlife as well (though I would say not as much as Barbados). US currency may get you just a little further there, and there is a Sandals resort there if it's something that interests you.

There is an increased amount of violence in Jamaica & Trinidad, but as with any place, use common sense and you should be fine. I've never heard of bad experiences from my friends in St. Kitts & Nevis, but I guess everywhere has areas where tourists don't belong.

Depending on the time of year you're looking to travel, other islands may interest you as well (ie. Sailing Weeks in various islands, Carnival, Jazz Festival).

when i wuz reely little my dad took me to puerto rico and i had a blast! i wuz too young to do anything and still had a blast my dads friends parents live down thier and my teacher owns a house in puerto rico and she loves it to. my dad went snorkling, surfing, i went swimming(but be carful of the rocks), if you stay in a hotel ull get a snorkling license for a week or a day those are the most common and theyll give you a tour of safe swimming waters and u can swim with all kinds of animals (but there safe). the whether down there is always warm even when it rains! they have wonderful food and wondeful everything. i hope u chose pureto rico because its beautiful and if u dont youll miss sooooo much!!!!!!

Barbados is the most developed and I feel the safest of the Caribbean islands.
Our 2 youngest children - 26 and 28 came last January and we were quite comfortable with them heading off to the hot spots on their own.
They caught the bus everyday and found lots of young people their own age to lime with on the south coast and in Bridgetown.
A lot of the tourist activities are geared towards your age group and are safely supervised so come on down!

Antigua or Barbados both very full of culture and great snorkeling or diving if you get real adventuress

The island of Dominica (NB not to b mistaken with the spanish speaking Dominican Republic).
Why?Safe -Rated as the 4th most peaceful place in the caribbean--(no murders for the yr so far as compared to the other islands that are already in 2 digits). It is not developed like the other caribbean islands so therefore it is the best kept secret of the caribbean and not overcrowded with tourists and tacky places and services,
Tropical island-Dominica is THE most prestine tropical rainforest island in the entire caribbeanand aslomost mountanous with peaks reaching almost 5000ft with varios types of vegetation from Tropical rainforest to Montane forest to littoral forests to Elfine woodlands and fumarole vegeattion. It is said that if Columbus was to return, Dominica would be the only island he would recognise beccase of the way that it has been preserved green and unspoilt.

Dominica was rated as the #2 best scuba and snorkelling destination in the ENTIRE ATLANTIC by Reader's Choice magazine 2007.excellent for not only for whale but also dolphin wathcing as well.
Fun things to do....visit the various sites where the movie pirates of the Caribbean 2& 3 were filmed
Atv riding thru the rainforests

Bathing/River tubing on one of our 365 rivers
Kayaking/boatriding on fresh water lakes
Hiking to one of a kind spots..such as the famous "Boiling lake" 2nd largest in the world largest, of its kind and only one in the western hemisphere.hiking to Uncountable waterflalls some being discovered 2 this day in the heart of the rainforests habited by endemic and endangered species such as our national bird"sisserou parrot" Amazona Imperialis etc etc webistes willprovidemore sites.

If you choose Dominica I would Jus like to say a warm welcome.

Sandy Sandals
check out easycruise.com

I just got back from a 7 day cruise with them. It's a different kind of cruise where you have all day in port, not just a few hours like most cruise lines.

As far as safe places go, I can tell you that Port Lucaya in Freeport, Bahamas seems to me the most secure of the places I've been, but of course there always seems to be an element of danger in tourist areas, because the thieves go where the opportunity is. Everything is centrally located, well-lit, lots of people on the streets at night and the hotels and nightlife is all in one place so you don't have to go walking to look for activities. There is good snorkeling at Paradise Cove and a shuttle comes to get you. It's one of the cheapest places to fly in the Caribbean also. Always use common sense and don't show cash, keep your things covered when on the beach, stay off the beach at night, stay in well-lit areas, trust your instincts.

I have been to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic, Dominica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Barbados and Aruba. My recomendations are Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Antigua. I wouldn't suggest the Dominican Republic just because it's not the safest place to be, and I found St. Lucia kind of dirty and Barbados was boring. Aruba was nice, but the side of the island I was on (south) had great shopping but the beach that we went to had a lot of coral. Antigua is pretty cool, I didn't get around there much but enjoyed what I saw. Puerto Rico is nice it has a lot of beaches and the el yunque rain forest as well as two bioluminecence "pools". (Its in the ocean but in a bay area). Shopping in Old San Juan is great and the people are all friendly and I'd guess that 9 out of 10 Puerto Ricans speak english. St. Thomas is absolutely gorgeous! We went snorkeling at Koki Beach which is beautiful. The water is soooo blue! St. Thomas also has one of the worlds most beautiful beaches there Megans bay. The island is small but has a lot of shopping. Downtown there are a lot of street venders and there is a guy who walks around with his donkey "Oprah". He's really nice and will stop and take pictures with you.
Hope you have fun on vacation!

St. Thomas is quite nice, but stay away from St. Croix. It is a U.S. Virgin Island, but it is very run down and overrun with crime. Puerto Rico has some beautiful spots, as does Barbados. St. Kitts and St. Maarten are just gorgeous, as well.

My experience on Jamaica wasn't great, but I was there for business and was not staying in a resort town. Thus, I saw the seedy side of Kingston, which is not so nice!

It's best to spend the money and get a nice resort. The poorer parts of Caribbean islands aren't a good place for tourists due to poverty and crime.

Hope this helps!

BELIZE!!!!!!! Ambergris Caye-San Pedro area to be exact. You'll be able to snorkel, scuba dive, take excursions into the rain Forrest and visit Mayan ruins and temples. The people are amazing and the food is fantastic. My wife and went to Belize on our honeymoon in January. I'm 26, she's 24 and at our ages we're already planning on living there after retirement. Belize is not an island but is a part of the Caribbean, but Ambergris Caye might be the island you re looking for. Look up everything you can on Belize, its awesome!!

Don't go to Nevis or St. Kitt's. These rogue states have a bad reputation for the government abducting American tourists and holding them in prison until their families pay a $25,000 ransom. In my opinion, Nevis should be considered a state sponsor of terrorism, and I'd like to see the free world declare war on this terrorist regime.
