Puerto Rico is US territory so you wouldn't technically be leaving the country; but he'll still need to check in with the parole (not patrol) officer to make sure.

And no, you don't need a passport, but you'll still need photo ID.

Travelling to Puerto Rico is definitely fine because it is considered US territory. However, his parol officer is the main party to make that determination. As long as his parol officer agrees, he will be fine. As long as you have a valid picture ID, you are all good. Happy Travels.

If he just got into trouble & is out on bond than he may be denied a trip to Puerto Rico because it is outside of the Continent, whereas a State inside the continent may be easier to get an approval, the same would apply if he's on probation...just ask to play it safe.

well i heard that as well. and i wondered the same thing. but to be on the safe side then u might want to find out from like someone that works with this kind of stuff. i am assuming that the ones responsible for his not being able to leave the U.S. gave u some way to contact tem for emergencys. if they didnt then i am sure that he has a P.O. (parole officer). so he could ask him if that would be allowed to go there.

If the restriction was "do not leave the country", then it is OK.
If the restriction was "do not leave the states", then not OK.

Anyway, I suggest you to ask first, many americans (including some congresspersons) do not know that what we really are. He maybe (wrongly) charged with violating his restruiction of not leaving the country and it may took several months to clear that.

If he broke the law in USA...he will have the same Problems in Puerto Rico...same Data systems and same background check in Immigration....

well it all depends on Your Nationality and Your immigrat status.

Us citizen tarveling from the USA..a Valid ID is all your need.

Legal residents coming from USA...LPR card and another Valid ID.

Hun .. sorry but thats a very serious question that u should consider asking his Parole Officer before u buy any tickets or anything !

If his PO says its okay then u can come here without a Passport .. but both of you will need some sort of Legal Photo ID !

no he wont have any problem because Puerto Rico is another state of U.S all you need is a picture ID you may want to double check just in case.good luck
