I have been there about three times on a cruise. It is an absolutely beautiful island. However, if you go beyond the gates of your resort, be sure to go with a tour group. As with most places in the world that are economically challenged, Americans are not well-liked. Be sure to visit:

1. A plantation (you will be amazed how sweet REAL pineapples can be)
2. Dunn's River Falls (real "touristy," but worth it)
3. River rafting
4. Learn to scuba...or at least take the "Discover Scuba" class
5. Enjoy Blue Mountain Coffee. It is the most expensive in the world, and worth every penny.

Yes I've been and keep going back. A few times a year at that. I love Jamaica for it's people, culture and beauty. Jamaica is pretty large considering so I'm not sure where you are getting married. I typically frequent Negril and love it. Very chill. Great places to eat, drink and be merry. I love walking the beach or chilling out on the cliffs. The snorkeling is fun, as the water is so clear.
Hopefully you will love it.
Congratulations!

Jamaica, been there, done it all there, love the place, the food, the beaches, majority of the people are great, look just enjoy yourself in "Reggaeland" do not listen to the nay sayers, the dont go there, dont do that, its violent, etc etc, you get that anywhere and Jamaica is no different.

Naturally be careful when out at night in unfamiliar places, but that does not mean that you cannot go out at night. I aways did until the early hours and I am stilll alive! Just treat the people as people, always with respect, and you will have a very nice time, I can assure you and you will want to go back again.

Four times and number five coming up in August! My favorite destination. The very air is sweet. The water is clear, sparking, and blue! The food is great; the people are wonderful. Jamaica is an island jewel. Happy wedding and a blessed life together.

I live here, you're gonna love it!! I don't know which resort/hotel, or which Parish you will be, so I can't give you anything specific to where you will be. In general though yes, the waters a very clear. Scuba diving, snorkling, parasailing or any water sport is a must of course. Depending on where you are there's hilking, horse back riding, fishing among other things. As it's your weddingmoon, I'd suggest spending a lot of quality time gazing into each other's eyes as the sun sets. Don't waste a minute!! Enjoy everything, food, music and good fun!!!

Congratulations!!! Enjoy your wedding, honeymoon and marriage!!

Bless Up!

I just got back. Not my favorite destination. Make sure when you are ready to head back home, get to the airport at least 2 hours early. It takes forever to get through the lines. The water is beautiful. There was a wedding at our resort while we where there.

no, but i've heard good and bad. i've heard from a lot of people that jamaica is dirty, and they'd never go again, and others who thought it was nice ... but i've never heard anyone say it's beautiful and i don't know anyone who's ever recommended going.

i hope you love it.
