Each country is beautiful in its own right. I have been to several islands in the west indies and culturally the closest thing I have seen to my wonderful island of Jamaica is Trinidad. We both are pretty large in our own right and share the same multi-cultural heritage.
We have alot of the same foods and fruits we justcall them different names.
We have fried dumplin in Jamaica, in Trini its called fried bake.
In Jamrock we have calloo, in Trini they have it too but, often blended up with okra and crab legs.
In JA we have pear(avacado) but, in Trinidad they call it zabacar.(can't spell it but if u Trini u know what I'm talkin about)
They have grater cake, coconut drops, busta, stinkin toe, june plum, star apple, etc....all like Jamaica but ALL called different names.

Trinidad as you know outside of carnival plays mainly dancehall on the radio. Jamaica is the same way too, outside of carnival we don't really do too much of the soca thing.

The main difference between us is in JAMAICA we are Jamaican. Whether you be Indian, Syrian,White, Chinese, or Black , FIRST AND FOREMOST YOU ARE JAMAICAN.
In Jamdown, we have more of a classism issue. Dollas runnin vs, Dollas nah run. In Trini there is a lot of racism. The indians can't get along with the blacks and vice versa.

Trinidad has great fetes and don't even talk bout CARNIVAL.
Trinidad even has PASSA PASSA which, a popular street dance that originated in Kingston's Tivoli Gardens.

Besides that particular issue I think we are very close and I can't really say which is better. I think we can each hold our own and offer tourists bang for their buck. MI LOVE MI JAMAICA but, Trinidad isn't too bad either.

I have a simple suggustion, live in Jamaica for the first 6 months outta the year then go back ah Trinidad for the latter half.

LOL..... :-)

take care!!!!

If you want to find out, the best thing to do would be to go there for yourself!

Otherwise, its just your word against mine! You say trinidad. I say Jamaica.

Don, son of Shakka
go to Jamaica and see for yourself, I love both.

I have been to Jamiaca before on a cruise ship. Jamiaca is a really nice country, the people are really friendly and a bog help. If you love shopping Jamiaca has a lot of Swap Meets and Bazaars! Jamiaca is a place that you don't really worry about anything. Like they say! No Problem Mon Jamiaca! Hope you pick a great place!

I think you should go to Jamaica to see for yourself, but it's not fair to compare the two islands, each country has its ups and downs. I could sit here and rate up Trinidad and all of we accomplishments and ting, but you not looking for that. In all honesty, you have to find this answer out for yourself. But not only in Jamaica you go find people who don't worry or take anything on; we Trinis does have a good time and make de bess of any situation. And though others of this question say Trinidad have racism which is true eh, it isn't to the point where you can't live in the country if you have a certain skin colour; and too I don't believe for a second Jamaica is racism free. You cannot really factor in general facts such as that; racism, the dollar value, crime, or whatever else, because they vary in ALL countries across the globe. Of course the people in this group will mainly say Jamaica, because it's the Jamaica section. Now I sure if you post this same question in we Trinidad section you go see why plenty people will shout out Trinidad. As you know, de land sweet too bad. It really is up to you, your preference of choice, and whichever will suit to your liking; I will ALWAYS choose TRINIDAD over any country any day. Dais meh home. Yuh cyah vex with meh fuh dat one. TRINI 2 DE BONE.

It depends on u. i would say Jamaica becasue i am from Jamaica and i think we have a lot to offer and very nice things to do here. Jamaica is also way more well known that trinidad. I have never been to trinidad though. so since u have lived there, just come to jamaica and then compare for yourself.
