Jamaican Patties and Ground Beef Pies?

How Jamaican Patties differ from ground beef pies?

Purely Jamaica

Vastly different. The only thing in common is the name.

Beef pies are thick and are usually filled with all sorts of matter. They tend to be very large as well.

Jamaican patties most closely resemble a calzone. That is, a piece of pita-like bread that has curry powder on the outside topped with either a mincemeat or vegetable type of filling and are folded over. Kind of like a calzone. Or, picture a thin flat-bread taco (minus lettuce, cheese, etc) that is baked. The overall proportions would be approximately 4 inches x 3 inches and maybe an inch thick.

They are a very tasty and inexpensive snack!

Well i never tasted a ground beef pie But patties now they are very tasty they are very popular in New York and Boston

Jamaican patties are authentic. I do not know ground beef pies.
We have various patties, ackee patty or loafs, chicken patties, lobster patties and shrimp patties.

Try one and you crave for more.

love those patties!! you can get them in chicken OR beef! have some....

Pssh like Trini food is so much better you're the Koreans of the Caribbean you put garlic in everything. At least we know when there is enoguh seasoning.

jus jaz
Beef patties are tastier because Jamaica doesn't have much "seasonings" like say Trinidad, so if you eat a beef pie from Trinidad and a "pattie" from Jamaica, you'd want a beef pie!

Like l care really, l tasted it in Jamaica, brought back some to Trini, eat it, sh!t it out, and life goes on. Thank goodness there's no garlic in patties. Thanks for that info chef.
