Learn Spanish in the Dominican Republic.?

I was looking to go to school for one month in the Dominican Republic during summer to learn Spanish, I was inquiring as to whether anyone knew of any good school. Either in Sosua or Puerto Plata, or where I could board as well, or rent an apartment. Thanks!

Learn Spanish in 1 month? I don't think so if you don't have any latin based language skills.
Of course you can learn some words and phrases but speak it decently in 1 mounth, forget it.
Happy to help you

You won't be able to learn much Spanish in just a month that is unrealistic.

Congratulations!
It's great you want to learn another language, and although it takes a while to acquire it, the rewards are indeed endless. Practical uses of a little Spanish: it can land you a job as a manager because you can communicate with the Spanish speaker workers. It makes you feel more comfortable, and enjoy a vacation even more in a Spanish speaking country such as Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, etc. because you can at least understand and express basic conversation.

If your plan is to vacation somewhere and as a plus learn a few conversational Spanish phrases or words, hire a front desk clerk at a hotel, they'll appreciate a few extra dollars.

You will not learn Spanish or any other language for that matter in one month, only phrases and words. By the time you pay air fare, room and board, and lessons, you will have spent a lot of money, and other than saying !Gracias, de nada, niño, ¿qué hora es?, y adiós, it will be time to return home!

Instead, hire a university Spanish master's student in your area, it's the cheapest route to secure a tutor. Get on craigslist.org and advertise your needs. ¡Buena suerte! (good luck!)

THERE IS SPANISH AND THERE IS DOMINICAN SPANISH . WHICH DO YOU WANT TO LEARN ? THOUGH I CANT RECOMMEND ANY SCHOOL, I PERSONALLY BELIEVE A PERSONAL TUTOR ( AND THERE ARE MANY WORKING) IS A BETTER OPT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE MONTH . YOUR OWN TEACHER WILL MEET YOU WHERE YOUR AT AND YOU GO AT YOUR OWN PACE AT SOMETIMES MUCH CHEAPER RATES. FORGET BOARDING , BUT I CAN PROBABLY HELP YOU WITH AN AFFORDABLE APARTMENT AND A TEACHER IN SOSUA IF YOU TELL ME WHEN YOUR GOING AND WHAT YOUR BUDGET IS ........ MOXTROM@YAHOO

One good language school in Sosua is iLangDR. The website is www.ilangdr.com

I doubt boarding is available, however, if you would like to rent an apartment in Sosua while you are here in the D.R., please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hope this helps!
