Of course not Americans people are those who are born in America and Puerto Rican are those who are born in Puerto Rico. Just because Puerto Rico is also part of America it doesn't means that americans are Puerto Ricans.

No, it's the other way around....
Puerto Rico is a self-governing commonwealth in association with the United States. The chief of state is the President of the United States of America. The head of government is an elected Governor.
All persons born in Puerto Rico are considered US nationals....

Richard D
I can understand your confusion. Because the US is a nation of (mostly) immigrants, a person might refer to himself or herself as a Puerto Rican, even if he or she was born in the US, because that's where their ancestors came from.

Puerto Rico is a territory of the US, those born in Puerto Rico can become "natural citizens" but those born in the US are not puerto rican

Niet, Мой друг, Anyone who is born in the New World is an American, whether its Canadian, Mexican, Caribbean/west indian, Central and South America is an American, solely because it is the Americas in its entirety. In your case, you will be a Ruso-American because you were born in Russia and are/will become a citizen. To answer your question Anglo Americans are just Anglo Americans not Puerto Ricans, that is if he/she was born in the U.S. of couse.
Надейтесь, что это отвечает на ваш вопрос.

NO. If you were born in america then you're american. If you were born in Puerto Rico THEN you're Puerto Rican.

Well, my friend, if you are born in America, you are an American. If you were born in Puerto Rico, then you are Puerto Rican. Puerto Rico, is not a state of the United States, so that is the reason. My grandparents came from Russia, a long, long time ago.

American and of Puerto Rican descent...Chica is right .. ...also..

Well my friend, the people who live and born in the New World are Americans (Canada, USA, Mexico,Caribbean,Central and South America) Puerto Rico is a little island in the caribbean and we are a USA Territory so the people who born in here receive the US citizen. From our land I think you know our best icon Ricky Martin.

shinningstarofthecarribean
People born in Puerto Rico are Puerto Rican but also American because Puerto Rico is a Commonweatlh of the USA.

America is a country. If you are born in America you are American. Puerto Rico is a free commonwealth of America. If you are born in Puerto Rico you are actually American & if you are of Puerto Rican decent than you are Puerto Rican also.

North America, Central America + Caribbean, South America = Americans (not U.S.A)
And for your question above, No. If you were Born in Puerto Rico which is a discovery of the New World America makes you a puerto rican.

billie
An American is someone born in America. Puerto Rico is another country. Puerto Ricans are born in Puerto Rico.

sobay310
Yeah, what Billie said. She's right.
