After Iraq any place is safe!! Thanks and hope you have a safe remaining few months. If you want a little America, Caymans is the place to go. Nothing but American fast food and American brands. As for safe, any place you go, just be street smart and use common sense and you'll be OK. If between only those two countries--Jamaica would be it--Negril to be specific. If you're single give Rio de Janeiro a try, especially in a few months. Around October it starts getting warmer which equals to the women showing off their new thongs during the day and summer dresses (which means halter tops and very short skirts) at night. There's not much better than sitting at some sidewalk cafe, sipping a cold one and watching the sites parade by. Where ever you wind up, enjoy and unwind and welcome back. |

Both are awesome places and any resort area has beefed up security so safety is really not a worry. You may want to venture off the beaten path and either places you have to pay extra attention as locals will know a tourist before you even get there...when going to nightclubs (there are so many cool clubs) go in groups and be sure and take advantage of the concierge...they know the places to go and the safest places/times to go... |

I just came back from both places, and I would have to recommend the Cayman Islands - much cleaner, and safer ( at least if felt safer).
The Caymans are the richest of the islands thanks to the banking industry and tourism, and it shows. Lots of good shops, plenty of water activities and good restaurants.
I didn't have any problems in Jamaica, but walking down the street is a hastle. They all come up to you and try to sell you stuff. In a way, I understood and didn't mind, but I don't like when they grab my arm, or get up in my face. It's grating.
The Caymans had none of that - of course, it was much more expensive to stay in the Caymans.
However, if you plan on staying at a resort, it honestly doesn't matter.
If you're coming back from serving in Iraq, many thanks!
Have a blast in the Caribbean, wherever you go. |

well if i may, Jamaica is nice but not that safe, but OK, if u r looking for relaxation to the extreme then Anguilla is the place if u want fun can't stop the st Marten is your best bet, for real.
Both isl land being near to each other about 30min by boat from each other offer all u need from strip clubs and water sports to shopping and watching a movie in st Marten in Anguilla you can have a day on one of the many white sandy beaches looking at the blue waters having the tranquility you desire, also in Anguilla u have the 5,4,3 stars hotels and resorts.
point to note being that i am from Guyana and living here in Anguilla it is quite expensive from what u r accustom to however it is wort it. you can have your vacation in st Marten then spend two days in Anguilla or 3 to have both of the fun.
hopes this helps.
o, and both island accept visa, master,American express cards but be care full with discover and any other o an cash is good too. USD is accepted widely. |

I love Cancun. Try the Moon Palace - it is amazing. Plus the Palace Resorts are all over Cancun and you can use the facilities at the other resorts (Cancun Palace, Sun Palace, Beach Palace, and a few others). Either way, all inclusive is definitely the way to go.
Welcome Home and Thank You |

It really depends what you want to do and how much you would like to spend.
For the beach, go to Cancun, stay at an all-inclusive and dont worry about food or drinks, just beach and party. Try hotwire they have really good prices.
If you want something more exotic, (i.e hot women and nice beaches) go to the Dominican Republic. If you do a search on Yahoo Answers you'll find a lot of positive comments on the Dominican Republic, not only is it cheap but it is a great place to visit. |
