These people know cigarette hurts you way more than weed. A cigarette has nicotine in it which causes lung cancer and all sorts of problems. I don't know where you'd find a joint cause I don't smoke weed but I just wanna say enjoy the weed !

P.S. The price for weed is $200 JMD or if you want pay it in US.

As you know Jamaica has weed EVERYWHERE, so getting a joint is no problem. It would cost about 50 cents, but since your a toursit, giving a few dollars is fair ( no more than 2-3 dollars ! ). Finding a spot to toke is also a non issue, Ochi has lots of little areas to toke as well as right on the beach. IF YOU should be caught ( by the police ) which is unlikely, give the cop $20 and he won't say or do nothing to you. They live for bribes & its common place.

Yeah, its illegal, but you see it smoked by locals, smell it in the air, watch it being rolled everywhere, so its like saying going through a stop sign is illegal...everyone appears to do it, its the getting caught part thats to be avoided

U can get it anywhere if u want. It is illegal but it is still readily available. People will come up offering it to u. I dont know the price though.

from my experiences in JA getting the ganja is the least or your problems. smoking it openly in public would be the wrong suggestion to give you. and openly smoking it on a public beach where the police can patrol would be opening yourself up to problems. although plentiful in jamaica, and there is much smoking of it going on, ganja is considered illegal and if a tourist is caught smoking it the fine could be as much as $200US and the officers will keep that for themselves, and if you don't have the money, you will be spending some time with the police in their 'hotel room' and that room is not as nice as a regular hotel, i have seen this happen!

the safest places to smoke ganja are in front of your hotel room, private beaches and property (where the police don't patrol as much) or in a nook or cranny where there is not too much foot traffic going on. not to say that the police make a big deal about smoking ganja in JA, they don't (the US does and they are the ones footing the bill for most of the drug interdiction policies in JA), but they like the $200US that they will get from you if your caught and it would be a bummer to get cold busted smoking on the beach cuz you didn't know any better.

as far as the price, since you only want a spliff, don't worry with all of the ganja jockeys around that pier where you will be docked, you'll figure it out and find the resident dealers with a quickness!! lol....

You'll be offered weed often. There have been reports on travel BBs about people selling to tourists, then calling the police over to have them arrested [or pay a bribe, I assume]. So be careful!

how soon do you want to die i.e from lung cancer. and hey you dont want to get caught because its illegal and the courts wont ease up on you. be smart just enjoy the beautiful island and smoke on something positive

From my experience in Jamaica, I would say you don't have to worry. There will be plenty of locals coming up to you making offers. I even had one guy try to sell me some in the airport Montego Bay. Another time I was sailing a Hobie Cat at Negril when a motor launch came up alongside and the guy offered to sell me some weed.

All I can say is be careful.

Smoking a joint is illegal in Jamaica. I am afraid there are no 'safe' places for doing that and even if there were I would not want to be dissing my country in such a manner by telling you of it.

Lung Cancer sucks. Get smart.
