Most hotels have beaches, casinos and discotheques, outside of that depending on where you are going to stay I recommend Old San Juan for jewelry, art galleries and local artisans wares. They also have a lot of historical "Plazas", Patios or Al Fresco cafe`s and Starbucks, local food restaurants and McDonald`s .There`s also local vendors selling Pinchos (pork meat and shrimp shishkabob); coconut, passion fruit (parcha), pineapple and acerola (local berry) ices; Pina Colada`s, pizza, "Piraguas" ( fruit ice slurpees), fruit "Frapes" (fruit shakes), hotdogs, "Mavis" (local bark tree tea, it`s fermentaded and may give some people a little high as if you had been drinking wine you may have to aquire a taste for it). There`s also the city walls, El Morro and San Cristobal Forts if you want to "sightsee". The Isla Verde area in Carolina is very lively day and night. It`s right on the beach, lots of hotels, restaurants and discotheques, I recommend "El Alambique" beach, that`s where the locals get their "vitamin K", ( checking out the boys&girls). You`re close to the Pinones area which is well known for the best local fresh food, breahtaking scenery, and beaches. I highly recommend traveling in groups for security and securing your valuables, I`m sure you will not have any problems since people here are so friendly and the local police is a heavy presence in the Metropolitan tourists areas. Stay away from the "La Perla" in Old San Juan, it`s not a good place at all. Venturing out of Metropolitan area to the east there`s the rainforest El Yunque and Luquillo beach. To the south is Ponce, a beautiful town get some ice cream at the shop next to the Melia hotel, their firehouse is unique. They also manufacture Don Q rum, Bacardi`s competition. Travel west from there to La Parguera bioluminescent bay in the town of Lajas. Close by to the north is San German with the oldest Christian church in the new world. Further west is Guanica with Playa Santa beach, you can ride on boats to smaller islands in this area the local favorite is Guilligan`s island it`s very beautiful, they`re closed on Mondays and holidays. Combate beach is west in the town of Cabo Rojo, if you want to venture there its fun and beautiful but it gets very crowded and heavy traffic to get in and out during the summer months There`s also a lighthouse on the edge of the western shore of the island, breathtaking scenery. Around towards the north along the west shore is Mayaguez home of tasty mangos, which will be in season during the summer, and the Univercity of Puerto Rico, it`s a college town a lot of partying and pubs. You can go on boat tours to Isla Mona or Desecheo, there`s also a ferry that can take you to the Dominican Republic. Contact the Tourism Office and try to get a Que Pasa magasine for the month of June 2008, they have maps and activities throughout the island for the month of June. Other nice places are the Camuy Caves Park, the Taino Indian Village and the Arecibo Observatory. One week is not much time to do everything but you can try. Hello. Are you staying in San Juan? I assume you will be. If so, you will have plenty of everything you mentioned. In San Juan there are different neighborhoods, but everything is close enough to take a taxi or bus. The Best beach in San Juan is in Isla Verde, its like a Miami Beach, lots of resorts around. There is also a nice beach in Condado & Ocean Park. Old San Juan has the best nightlife but not really any beach. Go to old San Juan in the day to sightsee. There are alot of nice historical sights like El Morro Fort. There are also lots of cool stores, boutiques & restaraunts up & down the cobblestone streets. Then at night there are tons of clubs, bars & pubs. Sometimes there are festivals going on too. San Juan is full of nightlife. Also in Isla Verde there are alot of casinos & clubs, usually in the hotels & also some in Condado.

Shopping: like I said Old San Juan has unique stores. Condado has alot of upscale stores. Also there is a huge mall (biggest in caribbean) in Hato Rey (part of San Juan also). Its called Plaza Las Americas. You can go here, but there are alot of stores that you would see in any local mall.
If you are into sightseeing, check out places like the Bacardi Factory Tour, El Yunque Rain Forest, Camuy Caves, Arecibo Telescope, the bioluminescent bay & more. You can rent a car or always take a bus tour from San Juan.& just to let you know San Juan doesnt have PR's best beaches. Go to Culebra or Viques island for a day if you want secluded white sand beache. ENJOY!

You should check out the hotels in Isla Verde / Condado - you don't want to stay at the El Convento (yes it is in the center of OSJ, but no beach and not really a hotel for singles) - from isla verde / condado you can grab a taxi or bus into Old San Juan - plue plenty of bars in Isla Verde

san juan gate - leads back into OSJ from the promenade

el yunque rainforest - get there early (avoid the crowds) hike one of the trails - swim at the waterfall - then spend the afternoon at Luquillo Beach (also try the food kiosks at the beach)
if you want to add on to this day - consider a trip to the bio bay in the evening (trips from Fajardo on the east coast

Isla Verde / Condado has some nice stretches of beach and even more restaurants

you should go to crash boat beach in Aguadilla i been there b4 and it's beautiful beach!!!! and go to La Parguera. it's a boat ride through the night and you get to see the things in the water that r shiny.

I recommend you guys to stay at "El Convento Hotel" because of its location. It is located in old San Juan where you can find pubs, restaurants well a lot to do. Also, you can go to the "El Condado" where are also are a lot of hotels with excellent casinos, and best of all beaches!!!
