fact mossies like beer!
previous question is wrong, i,ve heard of that of that one, tried it and got WHALLOPED by the buggers.
repellents with a high deet percentage work the best but even then not 100% effective.
we travel abroad on holiday extensively and found that Avon "SKIN SO SOFT" cream, not oil, keeps them away. still don,t know the magic ingredient in it that works but work it does.
the M.O.D. uses it in the tropical jungle and my nephew in Iraq uses it and they don,t have any bites.
it,s also good for moisturising the skin as well and safe for kids.
just to let you know, i,m not effeminate in any way, 6ft, 15st, north sea oil worker, and i think its great

Yes, AVON's Skin-So-Soft works wonders...
Another thing you can do is take your B vitamins. Mosquitos smell that from our bodies and they don't like the scent and they don't come near you.

Try Avon skin so soft oil spray, use it after your bath or shower before you go out of an evening on holiday, mossie's hate it and it works for me, you could also try taking vitamin B6 for a few weeks before you go away as that can help some people, taking anti histamines for 10 days before you go away is another good thing to do and try staying off sweet things for a few weeks before you go away too, good luck.

When you go to the caribbean they say you should get insect repelant with at least 50% deet in it.

Try these sites....

Alternative Insect Repellents

Natural Insect Repellents

Autan is the best...as it contains a high quantity of DEET. It has always worked for me!

bobbylee560
This is going to sound weird but repellents dont actually repel mosquitos, they hide you from them. the spray simply masks your natural smell so they fly past. Obviously they cant work 100%.
Even weirder, by johnsons baby lotion with aloe vera (green bottle) wipe some on your ankles and any other parts prone to biting about half an hour before you go out on a night (to avoid being greasy) and trust me, you wont be bitten at all.

Jack
FACT. Mosquitoes are deterred by yeast.

If you don't have Marmite/Vegemite, wipe the exposed parts of your body with beer.

Tropical lady is right.
We use AVON's Skin-So-Soft and works just perfect.
Nothing to lose.

Tiger Balm, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Balm

Stings a bit when you apply it, but I swear nothing bites you.

Or

Bathe in a Dettol bath, nothing bites you!
