Im traveling to the Dominican Republic in the next few days and im getting all my stuff together, and i was wondering if mosquito repellent is something i should bring? my boyfriend says no as it is the winter.. but being a girl i just wanted to make sure. THank you! |

Ive been to the Dominican Republic various times and I'd advise you to take it. I wouldn't go as far as using mosquito nets lol but I would definitely bring the repellant. I'd also bring some sort of after bite cream just incase - they are so itchy and the creams very expensive to buy in hotel shops.
If you do get bit - ice and lemon does the trick. Just press both on the bite seperately or 151 rum which is available only in the Dominican Republic........dab some of this stuff on you're bite and it'll be fine in no time. |

If you're staying in a resort I would bring some. If you're staying else where I would bring tons. They are worse at night and near areas where there is standing water...Before I would go to sleep at night I would spray myself down. It's good to do it anyway to prevent dengue. |

YES YOU SHOULD. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOMINICAM REP. A MILLION TIMES, I ACTUALLY JUST GOT BACK LAST WEEK AND THE MOSQUITOS ARE A KILLER. THE MOSQUITOS SEEM TO LOVE FOREIGN BLOOD SO THIS IS DEFINATELY A GOOD IDEA. I STAYED WITH FAMILY NOT IN A RESORT WHERE IM GUESSING YOU ARE STAYING BUT I REALLY DON'T THINK IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE WHEN I COMES TO MOSQUITOS

Winter is the rainy season and mosquitoes LOVE water. Bring some. Its more expensive to buy it at the touristy places. |
