My girlfriend is from Korea and lives in U.S. Does she need a passport to travel to and from Puerto Rico?

I am a US citizen and she lost her passport. She has a drivers license from U.S with photo. What other documentation will she need

That's it!. She is set and ready to go. She will not leave US so she does not needs a passport. PR is a US territory and you will only need a state issued ID to check in at the airport.

?
No, she does not need a passport since Puerto Rico is considered part of the US. A valid driver's license would be sufficient.

However, she'd better contact the Embassy of Korea Consular Section right away to apply for a new passport and go on record as having done so. Otherwise, she may be considered an illegal alien, subject to deporting at anytime.

since youre dealing with a u.s. teritory. she dont need a passport, just a photo id. actually she can use her korean passport because thats a photo id.

HotHotMamma
Yup they dont check as there's border security but no immigration check. BUT if they do check, randomly, which i belive they do, she'll be screwed becaue she's a foreign national without proper ID.

Driving licence doesnt help then as that only shows place of residence, not nationality etc or whether you have the right to be in the US. You can do it but it is a risk since you have the "what if" factor to consider. She'll be thown in a lock-up and deported.

For a foreigner anywhre, your passport is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. Tell her to contact her embassy for a replacement, imost countires view it as a major deal to lose a passport because its a security issue. No passport, no proof of where on earth you're from .

They will not let her travel without a passport no matter where she's going. The rules for traveling are getting stricter and stricter, no thanks to Terrorists.

The license does not guarantee citizenship. Sooo, being Korean if i was her i would carry my green card along with my license cause you never know when immigration ask you for documents, i've seen it happen many times when people are travelling to and from PR. PR is the bridge to the US to illegal immigrants so you never know when one of those shows up and asks for "id".

Whether you are a US Citizen or not, If you are living/working in a US State, all you need is a State issued ID (Such as a driver's license) to travel to Puerto Rico and back. No passport required to travel from the US mainland to Puerto Rico, ever.

Have fun in Puerto Rico... I miss my island so much!
