Isn't Hurricane Dean supposed to hit Jamaica tonight? (It's supposed to hit something. I just can't remember if it's Jamaica.) If so, you should know how much damage the island took by tomorrow.
Why not invest in some trip insurance? It's relatively cheap and will protect your honeymoon investment. |

If I were you I would be thinking about a change of plans. When you get up in the morning, watch Good Morning America on ABC and you'll get a better idea. After this hurricane is through with Jamacia, your wedding won't be on too many peoples mind. They will be working very hard, for more than a month to repair the damage done.
Good luck |

It might be a good idea to consider changing your plans. Jamaica is poor enough to begin with. This disaster may spark looting or other crime problems in Jamaica, not to mention the fact that the resort areas tend to be right on the beach and will be the first to be hit by the incoming storm surges (tidal waves). Perhaps Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, Aruba, Grenada or the Dominican Republic will be good spots to consider as alternatives for your honeymoon. Either way, good luck! |

Hard to say since it is just going through now. Check tomorrow, and call to see if your tickets are refundable or transferable. You might want to go somewhere else. |

It will take far longer than a month to fix any infrastructure damage. Cut your losses and change your plans. |

Wait and see what the damage is before changing your plans. It may be minimal. Most of those islands are used to hurricanes and build the resorts to withstand hurricanes. |

Good news, you will skill have plenty of time to change your plans if the resort is wrecked, be sure and call ahead and make sure everything is in order. |

I wouldn't bother to change your plans yet. It's too hard to tell what specific areas will be hit and with what force. Only if the island's getting demolished, would you need to really worry. The hotels may do just fine. Once the storm has passed, contact your travel agent or the hotel to find out the damage. Often when storms come through that really affect the location, they offer free changes of dates for travel or sometimes full refunds. So right now, wait and hope it will be mild! I hope it all goes OK and you have a fantastic vacation! |

My family just returned from a cruise and I have to tell you that these Hurricanes really destroy the locations they hit....As Huge as Hurricane Dean is it would be impossible for it not to have a lot of damage...A month isn't enough time to repair the damages that will come from a Cat 4......I'd check out another location that isn't in the middle of Hurricane Season....So Yes I would change your plans... |

Oh god, change your plans.
Jamaica is, for the most part, a poor island. It is about to be hit with a category 4 (maybe even 5 by that point) hurricane. That does not equal a fun in the sun honeymoon. |

If you are staying at a resort in Ocho Rios or Negril, no problem, as the hotels are newer there than in Montego Bay where it partially hit. The worse part of the storm was in Kingston and I know you are not going there as tourist don't.
Check with your travel agent and they can look into it. If you didn't use one, shame of you; then you'll have to call the resort or tour operator yourself. |
